Citations

Although there are citations on this page, they are all from the candidate himself, few if any appear to be from neutral, third-party sources. This article sorely needs that sort of shoring up to be acceptable. A little mollusk (talk) 04:26, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Requested updates

Hi, I'm a staffer for the Congressman in DC. I don't think the section on Financial Services on the page meets the site's unbiased criteria. I would request that it either be updated to reflect the additional work that the congressman has done on the Financial Services Committee, including helping write Dodd Frank and working to codify Insider Trading laws or that the section be cut down to reflect the length/neutrality of the other issue sections. Thank you for your consideration. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jfg2014 (talkcontribs) 17:26, 15 July 2019 (UTC)

@Jfg2014: I have removed this section in its entirety because it was based off of WP:PRIMARY sources, not reliable, independent sources, and it was not written in a neutral manner. If you want to request more changes to this page in the future, you can see WP:COIREQ for information on how to do that. Marquardtika (talk) 18:21, 15 July 2019 (UTC)

Request for discussion: Updating the Jim Himes Wikipedia page

Hello!

I'm a staff member for Jim Himes in his Congressional Office. His Wikipedia page is years out of date and needs updating. I've tried multiple times to update his committee assignments (as listed in the introduction and under the Committee and Caucuses section) and major legislation he has introduced. I want to closely follow Wikipedia's rules and guidelines and I'm hoping this Talk Page can help me understand where I'm going wrong.

His Legislation section had bills Rep. Himes introduced in the 111th, 112th, and 113th Congress. I added some legislation he introduced in the 114th, 115th, and 116th Congress (with summaries from non-partisan Congress.gov). The editor initially deleted these updates saying, "Thanks, but this is not a resume. not everything a person does is of encyclopedic value." And then deleted all the legislation AND his Caucus and Committee memberships with the comments "no. secondary sourcing is required to prove that this is actually relevant, that the subject was meaningfully involved in any of them."

The editor has also undone the changes I made to the Congressman's introduction. Nowhere in the article are Congressman's committee assignments or caucus memberships. The legislation that the Congressman introduces and the committees he sits on (including the two committees he chairs) are hugely relevant.

Is the issue here that I need to cite somewhere how the Congressman is meaningfully involved in the legislation he introduces or the committees he sits on? Other members of Congress' Wikipedia pages have introduced legislation and committee/caucus membership. I'm a bit at a loss here and looking for guidance.

Respectfully and with gratitude, Elena Radding
