Cause of Death

[edit]

Not one of the MSM cited sources gives the cause of death as heart attack. In fact they state explicitly that the cause of death has not been announced. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 114.198.24.230 (talk) 07:50, 29 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Same. Cause of death has yet to be released as of this writing. Ccspizzaguy (talk) 20:01, 29 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

"is considered by many"

[edit]

When I listen to Joey, I know he's a bad-ass, but there's a lot of vague, unsourced language like "is considered by many", "has been credited with", "many jazz critics agree" and so on. It reads like an advertisement. dfrankow (talk) 00:35, 7 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed those portions, they are better suited for a fan site. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 19:10, 19 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Uhh this article is pretty bad, stylewise. Formina Sage (talk) 03:55, 25 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Biography text

[edit]

The Wikified, partially referenced biography that had been built up in this article until 29 July 2011 was overwritten by a copy of the biography on the subject's own website. Please don't repeat this overwrite; the subject's own PR biography is available as a link from the article, for anyone who wishes to read it. AllyD (talk) 19:36, 10 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Musicianship

[edit]

Trying to make some improvements to this article after attending his live performances at NAMM show in California for three days in a row. Each day it was a different, fresh, improvisational performance. Great phrasing and delivery. Easily navigating between two electric organs, various keyboards, and also playing his saxophone, Joey DeFrancesco impressed the audience of top professionals in music business, and his partner on stage was none other than Freddie Ravel from Earth, Wind and Fire.

It is not easy to define his musicianship, especially in an article of such a small size. Although there is some help with some quotations from NYT and Chicago Tribune, the musicianship is an elusive matter of finesse that becomes more apparent in his live performances.

Multi-instrumentalist

[edit]

As Multi-instrumentalist, Joey DeFrancesco has been recording and touring as jazz organist, trumpeter, saxophonist and occasional singer. While he is best known as jazz organist, DeFrancesco also has been delivering live performances as trumpeter, saxophonist and singer in addition to his main specialty.

While giving this modest contribution to the article about Joey DeFrancesco, it becomes apparent that not many wikipedians are familiar with the art of this outstanding musician and recording artist. Let's make a better article, because Joey DeFrancesco is a notable musician who deserves a good presentation in wikipedia.Steveshelokhonov 20:43, 16 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Place of death

[edit]

on Wikipedia it says he passed away at his Phoenix, AZ home. I looked at the sources (except for NYT - which I don’t have a paid subscription for) that didn’t mention Phoenix. However, the Inquirer mentions his place of death is Mississagua, ON, near Toronto: https://www.inquirer.com/obituaries/joey-defrancesco-obituary-hammond-organ-jazz-music-20220912.html?outputType=amp

Furthermore, his final Instagram post days before death was from a plane captioning that he was landing in Toronto. 24.187.134.136 (talk) 05:41, 1 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
