POV?[edit]

The article states: Grant went on to arrest many Mormons, including Young, in a crackdown by federal marshals Grant believed would keep the Mormons from separating from the United States. The militant policy was successful as Young and the Utah Mormons did not rebel. The problem with the conclusion drawn in the second sentence is that there is little evidence that the Mormons had a desire to rebel and separate from the United States. In other words, the sentence is drawing a correlation, but it's probably not a causation. Good Ol’factory ^(talk) 03:06, 14 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Good Olfactory: Rawlins believed the Mormons were going to rebel and personally talked to Brigham Young. What evidence is there that the Mormons were not planning a rebellion ? Grant arrested many Mormons after Rawlins death. There was a crackdown. Was the crackdown justified ? That is up to the readers. Was the crackdown successful ? Yes. The mormons did not rebel. Justification and success are two different subjects. The sentence says the policy was successful only in that the Mormons did not rebel. That part is not disputed. Certainly the Mormons had a history of violence in the Territory. There was a crackdown on polygamy when most Republicans at that time thought that the practice repugnent. Information on tuberculosis TB[edit]

Putting information on TB in the talk page. Reputation should focus on Rawlins.

During Rawlins' lifetime, there were no effective treatments for tuberculosis (TB), the most widespread public concern in the 19th and early 20th centuries.^[1] The bacillus causing the disease, M. tuberculosis, was not discovered until March 14, 1882 by Robert Koch.^[2] In 1946, the development of the antibiotic streptomycin made effective treatment and cure of TB a reality, however, hopes of completely eliminating TB (cf. smallpox) from the population were dashed after the rise of drug-resistant strains in the 1980s. In addition to antibiotics surgery is also used to treat TB.^[3] The subsequent resurgence of tuberculosis resulted in the declaration of a global health emergency by the World Health Organization in 1993."
