The data for the other campus' should either be separated or organized differently. The template used looks awful with all those other JWU locations.

Why is the logo being used? Because its the logo of the school! I think thats a good enough reason alone. Don't you?

Absorption of "Rhode Island School of Electronics"

The technology division of JWU was once the Rhode Island School of Electronics (known just prior to being sold/donated (I'm not sure which) to JWU as "Rhode Island School of Electronics: Institute of Technology" and "Rhode Island Institute of Technology"). I was a RISE student in 1986 who went through the transition to J&W grad in 1988.

J&W was "Johnson & Wales College" until just after the RISE purchase, when it became "Johnson & Wales University".

I'd like to expound on this some more, but wanted to pass it by everyone...

Formatting the Notable Alumni Section

Right now we have a bullet list that's not sorted in any particular order, and some of our most notable alumni are towards the middle or bottom of the list. Ideally we could sort the list by notability, but that's so subjective that it'd turn into an edit war. I suggest we sort the list by graduation year. Any objection? Degree List

I've been trying to find a way to list the different programs and degrees offered at JWU without taking up an inordinate amount of space. I've come up with this table. Can anyone suggest any changes to the layout or formatting, or perhaps more information we could add to it? I'll drop it in the academics section next week if there's no objection. location of culinary school

The article says "a subsidiary campus housing JWU's culinary and graduate programs (called Harborside and opened in 1985) in Cranston, Rhode Island;" but also "The Providence Downcity campus is home to the College of Business, the Hospitality College, the College of Arts & Sciences, and the School of Technology.[9] This campus is home to several additional academic units: the Alan Shawn Feinstein Graduate School and the College of Culinary Arts."

The second seems to imply that the culinary school is at Downcity.

Also the latter paragraph is confusing in other ways- not clear whether it's meant to just be talking about Downcity, Rhode Island altogether, or JWU altogether.

Thank you for your response. While I understand that there might be reasons for a web archive reference, it fails to account for new Health and Wellness programs that have been added to the University when that source appeared in 2000. These Health and Wellness programs are integral to the university. Also, the Career Outcomes Rate is a very valuable calculation for higher ed institutions, determined by a national body. Type of university

Article now says "Private", but university's website states "In 1963 the State of Rhode Island granted a charter that authorized the university to operate as a nonprofit, degree-granting institution of higher learning and to award associate degrees in accounting, business administration, court reporting and secretarial sciences." - https://www.jwu.edu/about-jwu/history.html

A University can be private and nonprofit (and most non-public universities are). Looking at the Ivies and a few other examples, I find that only Cornell University mentions its non-profit status, and that's not in the lede. It looks like you (or someone) added that fact in the history section, and that seems appropriate to me. I don't think it belongs in the lede, if that's what you were asking. - Kzirkel (talk) 14:51, 29 July 2021 (UTC)
