Jorge M. Pérez (born 1949) is an Argentine-American billionaire real estate developer, philanthropist, art collector and author [3] best known for his work as Chairman and CEO of The Related Group.

Early life and education Pérez was born on October 17, 1949 in Buenos Aires, Argentina to Cuban parents of Spanish origin, and lived in Colombia before moving to Miami in 1968. He is married to Darlene Pérez and has four children.

Career Pérez started his career in the 1970’s as the economic development director with the city of Miami. In 1979, he founded The Related Companies with New York builder Stephen M. Ross, and began to make a name for himself by building and operating low-income multifamily apartments across Florida. In the following years, Related began developing market-rate rental developments and, in the 1990s, established itself as one of the most prolific high-rise condominiums builders in the United States.

As Chairman and CEO of The Related Group, Pérez has been responsible for the construction and management of over 90,000 multi-family residences worldwide. Pérez’s attention to detail and commitment to creating quality living environments distinguished him within the marketplace and laid the groundwork for future Related projects. His continued passion for vibrant urban communities has made him a trendsetter, often the first developer to enter emerging or undiscovered neighborhoods.

Over the years, Pérez and The Related Group have partnered with world-class names in architecture and interior design. Collaborations with creative design luminaries such as David Rockwell, Philippe Starck, Yabu Pushelberg, Piero Lissoni, Karim Rashid and Architects Rem Koolhaus, Cesar Pelli, Enrique Norten and Bernardo Fort Bresica have produced neighborhood-defining projects, and established Related’s developments as integral components of evolving cityscapes.

Philanthropy & Community Involvement

Pérez is deeply involved in Miami’s ongoing cultural renaissance, supporting organizations such as the Miami International Film Festival, The National Young Arts Foundation, Locust Projects, The Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation, NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale, The Frost Art Museum at Florida International University. In addition, he has served as Chair of the Cultural Affairs Council of Miami. Most notably, Pérez donated $40 million to the Herzog & de Meuron-designed Pérez Art Museum Miami, PAMM.

His philanthropy extends far beyond the arts into a variety of community organizations; The Children’s Trust, Big Brothers Big Sisters, United Way, Mourning Family Foundation and Dolphins Cancer Challenge. A firm believer in the power of education, he also supports Florida International University, CW Post College, the University of Michigan and the University of Miami, which honored Mr. Perez in 2003 by naming the Jorge M. Perez Architecture Center.

  • No sources cited. All articles must cite reliable sources—even (especially!) if they are written by related parties. This proposed draft cites none. Rather than propose a complete overhaul of the article, I suggest you propose small, incremental changes: change sentence X to Y, add paragraph W after paragraph V, etc. Always make sure to cite sources, and preferably independent sources! —C.Fred (talk) 17:01, 27 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • I agree with the approach suggested by C.Fred. This is one of the worst proposed rewrites I have ever seen. The author needs to familiarise themselves with at least the key Wikipedia policies - WP:NPOV for a start. Edwardx (talk) 17:18, 27 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for the copy paste above. I went through all the references over the last few weeks and put everything into a draft [1]. I left out many of the original requests as I don't want to make the request seem promotional. Is it possible for someone to look at this draft and implement the changes?
