Ejection

[edit]

I certainly like it better as a sentence than a paragraph, but I'm with Carthage44 (talk · contribs) on this one. Pitchers throw behind batters often enough and get ejected for it. We don't mention every ejection, and should only mention it if it's somehow noteworthy to Quintana's career. How is this noteworthy, outside of that particular game? – Muboshgu (talk) 19:05, 14 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with Muboshgu (talk). Pitchers are ejected on almost a weekly basis for throwing at hitters so why is this instance noteworthy? If player pages had a note about every time they were ejected for throwing at a batter, some pages would be crazy long. If a player threw at a batter and ended a players career because of it, then sure that should be noted. Carthage44 (talk) 21:44, 14 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Pitchers are ejected on almost a weekly basis for hitting batters? That is certainly not correct. There have only been five such ejections (Quintana, Tim Dillard, Henderson Alvarez, D.J. Carrasco and Jeanmar Gomez) all season. Also, this incident did receive notable media coverage, largely due to the blatant overreaction by broadcaster Hawk Harrelson. AutomaticStrikeout (talk) 21:56, 14 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Wrong again. Zack Greinke was ejected just before the All-Star break after only four pitches so again, you are not correct. There is also not notice about the media attention. Carthage44 (talk) 00:54, 15 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Zack Greinke was not ejected for hitting batters. He was ejected for slamming a baseball to the ground. As for the media coverage, I'm not sure what you mean, kind of like I'm not sure why you brought up Greinke. AutomaticStrikeout (talk) 02:54, 15 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It is the same idea. I pitcher getting ejected is not noteworthy because it happens so often. I think this discussion is over as it is 2 against 1. Thanks Carthage44 (talk) 10:41, 15 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I will not bother to respond to the condescending tone of your post, other than to point out that public opinion is far more lopsided in opposition to your edit warring over stats updates. Regardless of whether or not it is the same idea (in your opinion), it would be nice if you would get your facts straight and stop accusing me of being wrong when you, in fact, are the one who is wrong. Also, the discussion is not over merely because you want it to be. If consensus is against inclusion of the material, I will respect that. What I will not respect is the use of inaccurate information in forming consensus. You seem to greatly enjoy accusing others of being wrong, as you did above, yet you almost never provide an accurate reason why. AutomaticStrikeout (talk) 17:08, 15 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I know that you are angry that your points are not valid but soon I hope someday you understand. Relax and calm down. Stick to what you know. Carthage44 (talk) 01:29, 16 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
If you didn't have numerous blocks in your history and didn't have a reputation for arrogance and pointless edit warring, maybe I would listen to you. Which is another way of saying that maybe if I hadn't seen pictures of it, I might think the moon was square. Before you say stick to what you know, please consider that you have proven to me that you know less about ejections than I do. I hope maybe someday you will understand how off-putting you are. AutomaticStrikeout (talk) 02:00, 16 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
All I have to say is HAHAHAHA! Are you for real or are you a bot? WOW get a life! Carthage44 (talk) 02:26, 16 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I am done with this conversation, at least the parts involving Carthage44. Any editor that makes remarks such as the above obviously is not interested in engaging in meaningful conversation. AutomaticStrikeout (talk) 02:35, 16 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I also agree with Muboshgu, who said "Okay, I think both of you guys need to take a breather and re-read WP:CIVIL and WP:AGF" (but who's edit got trampled when I reverted carthage's arbitrary deletion of the discussion). If it's only happened 4-5 times out of hundreds of games, that seems to me like it might be notable, which means 2 against 2, so I guess that's discussion open again, at least using Carthage's math skills. Also, as AutomaticStrikeout said, Zack Greinke was ejected for spiking the ball, not for hitting the batter, so Carthage got that wrong as well (as is completely obvious from the video available here). -- Despayre  tête-à-tête 15:45, 19 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Pitchers get ejected all the time.[1][2] It's newsworthy, but not encyclopedic. – Muboshgu (talk) 01:59, 20 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Probably true, but that doesn't mean we should skip the easy and simple to use process to deal with editing articles around here. :) -- Despayre  tête-à-tête 03:21, 20 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

New York Mets Signing

[edit]

I understand Quintana's signing to the Mets is incredibly recent news, and it may me still unreliable, but it was already published on the official MLB website as a 2-year, $26 million deal, and published in the official MLB Instagram account. It is also the whole buzz here in Colombia, my own and Quintana's country. I will be updating the player profile accordingly, including the aforementioned source. Mjeims (talk) 18:02, 7 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have created the edit, but will refrain from publishing it for now, as I just noticed that the deal is still not 100% official, as he is pending a physical exam. Mjeims (talk) 18:12, 7 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
