Change needed[edit]

As of mid-March 2021, aren't Halper and Taibbi (and their Useful Idiots program) no longer affiliated with Rolling Stone? 173.88.246.138 (talk) 16:59, 22 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A common but not unimportant problem with this entry[edit]

Harper is described as a “secular Jew,” a logical fallacy, of course. If one is “secular,” that one by definition ceases to be a Jew. On 30 September 2022, Halper complained on Counterpoints that she was censored by The Hill for characterizing occupied Palestine as an apartheid state. During the segment Halper asserted that she is frequently dismissed as a “self-hating Jew.” She said multiple times that she is Jewish. More, she has repeatedly emphasized her Jewish identity when condemning the occupational government of Palestine on Useful Idiots and The Katie Halper Show. Thus, I am removing the line about Halper considering herself a secular Jew. 68.80.254.218 (talk) 23:29, 30 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Jewishness is both a religious and an ethnic identity. One does not have to be observant to be Jewish. Notably, The ethnostate of Israel itself does not require religious conviction to consider someone a Jew (although Israeli nationalists often require national conviction). Wikipedia already has an extensive article on the complexities of Jewish identification, but suffice it to say that it is not a "logical fallacy" to be a secular Jew. 2601:448:C580:6D70:0:0:0:FE73 (talk) 19:16, 9 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
