Access to a turnstile via someone's house

[edit]

In the TV broadcast for today's FA Cup match between Luton Town and Rovers, the announcer said something about one of the turnstiles being accessible only by going through someone's house. Any information about that? Not having much success in Googling it. howcheng {chat} 01:14, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's not actually through someone's house, the Oak Road end of the ground is built up against a row of terrace houses, one of them is missing to make room for the turnstiles. You then go up some stairs into the stand and can look into the upstairs windows of the houses around. Kenilworth Road is real dump, and I say that as a life long Luton fan, born and raised there and having been to hundreds of matches at KR. Bob Palin 01:28, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The Oak Road is currently for visiting fans so they must be impressed. I've changed the text because it said that the Oak Road roof was added in 1986, which is clearly rubbish. Kenilworth Road may be a dump but it's a proper traditional old ground capable of evoking the feeling of when football was more down to earth. I'm not a Luton fan but I love the Kenny. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.18.66.121 (talk) 21:09, 13 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Swindon Town Supporters Attending 88 Kenilworth Road Match

[edit]

This youtube video shows Swindon town supporters at Kenilworth Road in 88, supposedly when away supporters were banned: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A51t7si38W0

Was the ban lifted for a cup match due to league pressure or were there some other discrepancies? This appears to jibe with the current statement that away supporters weren't allowed back at all until 1990, if so might want to edit the Luton Town main page as well. --Donsyob (talk) 21:06, 11 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is covered in the 1985 Kenilworth Road riot article. Away fans were allowed in limited numbers for cup games. Cliftonianthe orangey bit 21:12, 11 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
