External links[edit]

A large number of the entries in the external links section are merely trivial references; the list should be pruned down to only those links that provide significant additional information about the article's subject. Studerby 06:16, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The article was deleted and I created a new stub with the infobox, lead, ELs, and categories. Regardless of the mile-long history of the old article, I agree with the earlier post that the new article should contain only relevant external links, not every interview the guy has ever given. We have a Manual of Style to follow. In addition, there were external links to MP3 samples on the old page, and that's not allowed under our terms of use. Sound files, like images, must be uploaded instead of linked externally. Wikipedia uses Ogg Vorbis for sound, and Ogg files must be uploaded per Wikipedia:Creation and usage of media files. - KrakatoaKatie 13:44, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Previously assessed as B-class. Re-assessed as Start-class. Consider the following:

Start class:

  • Green tickY A reasonably complete infobox
  • Green tickY A lead section giving an overview of the individual
  • Green tickY Reference to primary achievements
    - Weak here, the phrase:- made significant contributions in... teases casual reader without giving specifics: should be expanded.
  • Green tickY Categorisation at least by main genre and origin

C-class:

  • Green tickY All the start class criteria
  • Red XN A reasonably complete infobox, including labels and associated acts list
  • Red XN At least one section of prose (in addition to the lead section)
    - Big problem for C-class: needs expansion on description of the individual's achievements in a separate section.
  • Red XN A discography of studio albums and singles
    - What recordings have been released?
  • Red XN A list of notable productions/performances
    - Who/what organisation(s) has the individual performed with, what theatre productions has the individual been involved in, what are the compositions the individual is best know for?
  • Red XN Reliable independent in-line references supporting claims
    – only one reference, many claims are unsupported or lacking in detail. More references are needed to balance the one point of view.
  • Green tickY A casual reader should learn something about the individual

B-class:

  • Red XN All the C-class criteria
  • Red XN A completed infobox, including photo (were available) and most technical details
  • Red XN A full discography including charting history (or a link to such an article)
  • Red XN No obvious issues with sourcing, including the use of blatantly improper sources
    – Lead section needs beefing up, other sections need to be created with additional in-line references, all sources need to be reliable.
  • Red XN No significant issues exist to hamper readability, although it may not rigorously follow WP:MOS
    – some of the prose needs copyediting e.g. His recording are regularly played... > His recordings are regularly played...
  • Red XN No obvious omissions, but also no obvious extraneous information – such as "trivia"
    – Only three sentences: this is easily the biggest problem with the article. There's no idea of what the individual's works are, when they were released or what reception the primary works had. In terms of biography no idea when orphaned, when left Vietnam, when left Australia, who associates/influences are?
Evaluation based on WikiProject Biography Assessment Quality scale. Please update this list when the article meets any of the above criteria, changing the article's class assessment as appropriate. Last reviewed by – Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 06:12, 17 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
