Contested deletion[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... (your reason here) --Motosporteditor (talk) 12:45, 22 March 2014 (UTC) It is in progress[reply]

Most young drivers at those level also have Wiki articles, so agree that he shouldn't. Problem is that there are no cited sources to protect this from deletion. Donnie Park (talk) 11:52, 22 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Nationalities[edit]

I noticed that in recent days some users have been edit-warring to keep Lance Stroll's Belgian nationality from the lead. I really don't see why this would be contentious in any way. We can source with reliable sources that Stroll has admitted to have a Belgian passport and to have "Belgian blood running through his veins". There is no reason thus to omit his dual nationality from the lead. Including it is the exact same thing we did for other drivers like Nico Rosberg, Pascal Wehrlein, Romain Grosjean and others. Therefore, I consider Sportsfan 1234 and Britmax's actions really out of sorts.Tvx1 18:26, 16 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, Sroll has made it clear that he has both belgian and canadian nationality and this is relevant in the article, I fail to see the problem here and unless @Sportsfan 1234: can explain why it should not be there he can do so here and wait for a consensus before removing it, otherwise we may have no other option than to report him for vandalism, I will also put a notice on his/her talk page. SSSB (talk) 19:14, 16 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

He is not Belgian. He says he has Belgian Citizenship and has admitted the Canadian race is his "home race". There is zero policy regarding including both nationalities in the lead. Stroll represents Canada and only that country and its misleading to mention his Belgian citizenship in the lead. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 23:49, 16 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Sportsfan 1234: if he has Belgian citizenship then he is Belgian by definition, to hold citizenship for a country makes you a member of said country, and I don't understand how it's misleading, his infobox clearly states that he represents Canada and stating in the prose he is Canadian-Belgian doesn't change or contradict this, legally if he holds both Canadian and Belgian citizenship then he is as much a Canadian as he is Belgian and the article should reflect his dual nationality, not ignore nor deny it. SSSB (talk) 00:06, 17 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

He has been racing in motorsports in Europe in all junior categories on a Belgian passport, he states he is half Belgian all the time, his mother is Belgian and he lives in Europe with a Belgian passport. How can this be irrelevant? Lesterklaassen (talk) 00:09, 17 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

He uses a Canadian passport and its considered Canadian and he admits it himself. His Belgian nationality is therefore not necessary. The interview you have link is completely clickbait and you are pushing your own POV onto this article. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 21:06, 17 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
His dual nationality is not a point of view, it is a fact, he admits he is a dual Belgian-Canadian nationality and the source looks fine to me, there is no reason not to mention it, he is as much a Canadian as he is Belgian. SSSB (talk) 21:18, 17 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I hope you meant to say there is no reason not to mention it.Tvx1 23:38, 18 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Tvx1:, yes, changed it now, thanks. SSSB (talk) 08:45, 19 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
In any case, this and this is not acceptable behaviour in any way. It's nothing but simple bullying. The harassment appeared to have occurred against Lesterklaassen not by them. Discuss and collaborate with one another, don't attack each other.Tvx1 23:43, 18 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Sportsfan 1234: why are you removing reference to his Belgian nationality again. This is reliably sourced and the consensus above is clear that it should remain. If you have evidence to suggest that he may no longer hold dual nationality pease state it here otherwise this really just looks like disruptive editing.
SSSB (talk) 09:22, 12 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Tvx1, SSSB, and Sportsfan 1234: There is a related discussion at Talk:Nicholas Latifi#Nationality ordering about how the ordering is incorrect both here and at Nicholas Latifi. A Canadian of Belgian descent (or otherwise Belgian people, such as dual citizens, who live in Canada) are Belgian Canadians, and similarly for Iranian Canadians. The order is incorrectly flipped both here and for Latifi. — MarkH21talk 09:07, 27 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Sportsfan 1234: two years, two whole years you have been editing his nationality from time to time... it’s time to stop pushing your ridiculous point of view because I think it’s clear by now that you are wrong. ~~ LesRoutine (talk) 15:19, 23 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Sportsfan 1234 And another two years later this time. You don't give up do you? LesRoutine (talk) 15:58, 18 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Strulovitch[edit]

I read a couple of times in the past that Lance's legal name is Lance Strulovitch. Does anyone have more info/sources on this? LesRoutine (talk) 12:53, 2 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Stroll owning Prema Powerteam - Possibly incorrect / based on rumours[edit]

"he also contested the FIA Formula 3 European Championship with Prema Powerteam, owned by his father Lawrence Stroll." - Source https://www.autoweek.com/racing/formula-1/a1857276/report-lance-strolls-father-spent-80-million-get-son-f1-seat/

Reviewing the link and searching the internet for any other sources there is no evidence of this being true. All reports quote a single German report without any accompanying quotes or evidence. Since this claim in 2016 there have been no mention of Stroll's ownership of the team or other links to imply the same. In the light of the evidence (or lack there of) this line should be removed as it is pure speculation and the citation used as evidence confirms as much.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.252.95.193 (talk) 19:00, 11 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have found other sources from highly reliable news sites that Stroll has an investment in the team. [1]. I have reworded to reflect this.

Incorrect name[edit]

I don’t think his name at birth is as stated on this page 2A02:C7C:101F:5300:F5A5:C748:29D8:C523 (talk) 19:30, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If you're referring to "Twatface", that was vandalism which has since been reverted. If you're referring to "Strulovitch", there's a source to support it. DH85868993 (talk) 06:44, 9 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Middle name (Jacob)[edit]

Lance’s middle name is Jacob and it keeps getting removed. The source I have are his hospital xrays from when he broke his wrists but I don’t really know how you would reference that so the edit wont get removed. Any advice would be great. 37.60.67.11 (talk) 17:27, 6 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
