The Milan Edition is not Milanese![edit]
I can't understand why the only Italian licensed and localized edition of Monopoly is defined Milan Edition, when it's easy to see that it's the standard Italian national edition of Monopoly, sold and used all over my country. The streets on the board do not belong to any specific Italian city or town, and are definitely not Milanese. The list should be edited. (I have been told that specific editions for major Italian cities, such as Milan, Rome, Neaples, etc. exist, but I've never seen one.) --93.40.128.149 (talk) 18:20, 11 December 2009 (UTC)
New article[edit]
I created this article with the intent of combining and standardizing the relative mess and duplication between List of licensed Monopoly game boards and Localized versions of the Monopoly game. I created a template that should work well for all Monopoly editions. I'll start merging the various entries from the two articles into this one using the new template. Once that's done, we can wrap up loose ends and have one nice, neat and consistant article for ALL Monopoly variations. If it gets too big, we can consider splitting it up, but in a way that stays consistant and doesn't create a bunch of overlap. JBarta (talk) 03:13, 11 February 2009 (UTC)

It can be used for a fairly brief description, or a complete listing of the board's property names and colors. It can also handle alternative colors, layouts and extra spaces. There's also a section for images as well. Make sure your images comply with Wikipedia's image use policy or they may get deleted (this happened to a whole slew of monopoly images a while back... bummer). Before using the template, it would be a good idea to review the documentation to familiarize yourself with its use. Also, rather than pick and choose variables from the template, I HIGHLY recommend you insert the WHOLE template into the article and edit whatever bits you'd like. Size of article[edit]
When editing, there is a message about the size of the article. Certainly, if it were a regular article this might be a concern. But it's not an article per se, it's a list. Much of the article's "size" is template text. Also, it should be known that the template is written so that if the board layout is not used (by leaving the "Go" parameter blank), that section is not included in the article. It will still show up in the edit window, but it doesn't actually become part of the article unless and until there is a value for the Go space. For these two reasons the "size" of the article is not entirely accurate here. JBarta (talk) 09:14, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

official vs. unofficial[edit]
I would imagine that quite a few international versions are "unofficial". Moving them to the "Other/Unofficial/Parody" section doesn't seem like the best solution as that section would probably get swamped with various international versions. (For the moment, I removed the word "Unofficial" from that last section) If we wish to differentiate between official and unofficial editions, first we should define exactly what is meant by "official" and then find a good way to designate that in the listing. The "Österreich" / Austria Edition - double (and incorrect) entry[edit]
May I suggest removing the entry "Österreich" / Austria edition from within the GERMANY country list, as Austria is not a province or city of Germany (let's not get into history here... :))

Article splitting[edit]
This page appears to be nearly 531,498 bytes long. Can you please split this article into at least 5 pages?

- I think if we chop it up, it should be: USA (split somewhere in the middle), Europe (split somewhere), and everywhere else. The problem is all the board diagrams. That's what makes this article so "heavy". SchuminWeb (Talk) 23:21, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
- I dislike the idea of chopping up the USA section, rather spilt that off in one page. At ~220KB it would be large, but far more manageable than the 537KB of the current whole. Perhaps the division of the remainder could be based on the continents: Other (non-USA) North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Oceana (we can worry about any Antarctic editions when they're published). Russia should probably be on the Europe page, with a link from the Asia page. The USA page should get a link from the Other North America page. The "other" section could stay on the current page or get its own page. The Europe page would be (ballpark) around 200KB as well. Not exactly a balanced division, but (IMO) a logical one. I have started drafting a split of this article. The split articles aren't online yet, they're still being drafted on my local computer. Here are the approximate sizes so far:
- Europe (including Russia and Turkey): 218 KiB
- USA (including all brand marketing versions): 213 KiB
- Oceania: 38 KiB
- North America (excluding the USA): 16 KiB
- South America: 11 KiB
- Asia: 7 KiB
- Africa: 5 KiB
- Middle East: 3 KiB
This geographical division is hopelessly lopsided in terms of sizes, but it's the easiest to imagine and visualise. JIP | Talk 15:20, 13 October 2010 (UTC)
- Since the Asia, Africa and Middle East pages are so small, consider leaving them sections on a single page ("List of licensed and localized editions of Monopoly (Africa Asia)"), and then the disambiguation page can link to the sections. I've unified the drafts for Africa, Asia and the Middle East, and have inserted the header and footer sections. So far the sizes of the drafts are:
- Europe: 220 KiB
- USA: 215 KiB
- Oceania: 40 KiB
- Africa, Asia and the Middle East: 18 KiB
- North America: 18 KiB
- South America: 13 KiB

- I've put Indonesia and the Philippines in Oceania, but they might also be considered belonging to Asia. This might make a difference in the article division. The Philippines won't make a big difference in terms of article size, but Indonesia will, although still not a huge one. All this is because of my ignorance in geography - Oceania is the part of the world I know the least about. Is this an important enough matter to properly settle or is the way I've done it now OK? - I've moved Indonesia and the Philippines to Asia. I've also moved Costa Rica and Guatemala to North America, because the article about North America seems to list them there. I haven't yet merged the Middle East with Asia, but if I decide to do so, it can be done within the same article. The split has now been done. The main article only has the other/parody games left any more, every other game is in one of the subarticles. The main point was getting Europe and the USA away from this article, the others (the rest of North America, South America, Oceania, Africa and Asia) don't matter that much, but out of equality, they've also been split. "Eartopoly" revert[edit]
I just reverted the addition of the "Eartopoly" version of the game. It appears that there is, in fact, an "Earthopoly" (note the different spelling) (http://www.lateforthesky.com/Content/Product-30-1-239.htm?CategoryName=&CategoryID=6). Late For The Sky also seems have to have a number of other themed games that appear to be Monopoly derivatives ("Baseball-opoly", "Bible-opoly,". "Wineopoly," etc.). I'm not sure what the status of these should be, and if and where they should be included. Besides the edits are *soooo* slow, I don't really feel like making all of them - so if no one objects to splitting this page sometime soon, I may just go ahead and do it. Micropoly/Microsoft Monopoly/Microsoftopoly[edit]
