Installs and downloads

[edit]

I understand installs are not desired because installs do not exclude people installing it again or on another PC.

Similarly, one might say that people can download a game more than once without installing it. Although usually on mobile, once the game is downloaded, it is also installed.

I'm not trying to argue here, I'm just trying to understand the kind of things the editors should keep in mind when editing this list. Avram25 (talk) 21:29, 26 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

More games

[edit]

This is what I've found for December 2019:

In case anyone feels like updating (top half) and adding (top bottom) those games to the list. Avram25 (talk) 22:00, 26 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Mini World is a 3D sandbox game with 400 million registered users and 80 million monthly active players. [1]
  • Rules of Survival - by October 2018, the game had reached 230 million players worldwide

Avram25 (talk) 01:35, 27 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sources need to state the number of players, not the number of downloads. Maestro2016 (talk) 18:12, 24 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Roblox

[edit]

I cannot see the given source saying it's has 2 billion player count. Game for Game (talk) 15:42, 12 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed it. I could not find any suitable sourcing to use for Roblox mobile counts. I did find a source saying that Roblox had more than $2 billion in player spending, so that might be where someone got it from, but that's not what this list shows. -- ferret (talk) 16:23, 12 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Add SimCity Buildit to the list. The app has 100M+ downloads as of April 2021. 185.130.146.30 (talk) 20:47, 9 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not done I can't find any news articles which say the number of downloads, and we can't rely on the numbers the app stores give. Uses x (talkcontribs) 00:25, 10 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Add Brawl Stars to this list. It has over 100.000.000 downloads in the Google Play store. 82.169.24.222 (talk) 18:43, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: Blogs are not reliable sources. Also the list deals with confirmed players, not downloads. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 19:01, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Call of Duty: Mobile

[edit]

Hey, I was just reading the article and found out there is mistake in Call of Duty:Mobile downloads, they surpassed 500 million downloads recently. Fodorjiri (talk) 17:55, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

List is confusing

[edit]

It is written 'Downloads' but as i have seen in other talks editors told that it is 'registered players' . Please change it to 'player count ' or something else as this is creating confusion among other and people are giving editing requests without knowing that it is not 'downloads' LotyTotypie (talk) 09:19, 3 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

LotyTotypie, the original scope of the list was to mirror the list of most-played video games by player count, which does differentiate between the type of figure being cited. Seems like it has changed overtime, although not intentionally. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 19:37, 3 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

So why don't you change it to 'Number ' . I think it would be better LotyTotypie (talk) 03:36, 4 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ok . I see. Some games are by downloads while some are by MAU . Shoudln't they be classified on same basis??. LotyTotypie (talk) 05:44, 4 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ok. I am closing the talk now . LotyTotypie (talk) 17:15, 4 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Temple Run

[edit]

Hello, I excepted to find on the list game Temple Run, which nowdays is not already very popular but certainly as the same league what Fruit Ninja, Angry Birds in 2010-2015. @Dissident93: I remember that five years ago I mentioned in this discussion about this source. Is this possible to find more reliable and include temple run to that list? Cheers Dawid2009 (talk) 07:58, 18 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Just a question. Why some most downloaded games like Helix Jump do not have red link on that page? How it is proved that they are not enough notable to be even inked or have an article on Wikipedia. Cheers. Dawid2009 (talk) 08:02, 18 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

See WP:GNG, which basically means they have to be notable enough to warrant having an article. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 08:05, 18 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Garena Free Fire reached nearly 1.4 billion downloads as of 2022 if we combine garena free fire and garena free fire max (enhanced version). If pubg mobile is considered as whole combining all the versions, free fire should be done the same Reoladon Fury (talk) 14:43, 25 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Consolidate list to only games with 40 million players and above

[edit]

This list is very long, and it should be consolidated into a shorter list. A shorter list is easier to read, and is easier to update and upkeep. "List of best-selling video games" only lists the top 50 games by copies sold, the lowest selling on that list has 22 million copies sold, and it is much easier for mobile games to hit download counts higher than 22 million. Hence, I propose editing this list so it only shows games with 40 million players and above. Theknine2 (talk) 10:13, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I don't really agree this is particularly long, but why not just go with "top 50" then? There's about 95 entries currently. -- ferret (talk) 13:14, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It's easier to set a hard limit based on player count, but "top 50" would be a good option too. "List of most-played video games by player count "currently uses a 25 million players minimum. Theknine2 (talk) 15:16, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
