Merge proposal[edit]

Propose merging List of Power Plants In India into this list as a duplication. Beagel (talk) 11:07, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please explain why there should be two lists about the power stations in India? I agree that the lists in their current state are different; however, it is clear duplication. Beagel (talk) 05:46, 20 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The objective of the one "power stations in india" is to provide notable power plants with some information such as region, state, installated capacity, etc etc. but the other one " power plants in india" is to give the entire list of the plants situated in india which includes smaller ones also but to connect with the grid. you already noticed this one. I hope you will understand. Thanks Amarnath aravabhoomi (talk) 17:05, 20 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Seems as WP:POVFORK. Rather expand the existing list or create more detailed lists by states or power stations type. Beagel (talk) 17:12, 20 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Agree with Beagel. I suggest we manually complete with the merge or do some sort of a history merge, and this is a clear case of duplication. Rehman(+) 07:50, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I request all to see the difference between both. it is easy to delete, but not easy to collect and edit individually. look this advise. "let it be the list of power plants " like that as the name indicates pure list only. and change the "list of power stations" to the "power stations in india". thank you. Amarnath aravabhoomi (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 12:51, 21 August 2010 (UTC).[reply]
You still could have expanded on the original "power stations" article without forking, just as editor Beagel said. I will perform a merge soon. And you are welcome to continue editing under the original "power stations" name. Regards. Rehman(+) 02:26, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
 Done; merge complete. Rehman(+) 09:52, 10 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Source is bad[edit]

The source for most of the lists is footnote no. 4: "Central Electricity Authority". Cea.nic.in. 2012-07-31. Retrieved 2012-09-06. This link only leeds to the CEA's main site. I doubt that this a reliable sources; its like citeing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page for some entry on Fula people. Can someone please add the real source of all the data? 193.174.142.101 (talk) 15:26, 14 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This list is definitely corrupt. If you'd take a look at http://www.cea.nic.in/archives/exec_summary/dec09.pdf you'll find a list listing the fuel specific installed capacity for every Indian state. Checking the totals reveals that the Wikipedia list is wrong. 193.174.142.101 (talk) 09:45, 18 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Consider separate articles for states of India[edit]

This list is HUGE. India has something like 30 states and territories. Comparing this article to similar ones for China, the United States and Australia, perhaps it would be helpful to have more detailed articles at the state level, and use this article to provide summary level information, largest plants and links to states--Graham Proud (talk) 11:08, 20 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

coal capacity[edit]

As on July 31, 2010, and as per the Central Electricity Authority the total installed capacity of Coal or Lignite based power plants in India are 87,093.38 MW.[10]

This seems to have grown to more than 125,000 MW (thats the number of the list of coal power stations), but I dont know if I can just "upgrade" it?! Greetings Kilon22 (talk) 11:49, 31 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Source fallibility[edit]

Reference 4 needs to be checked again as nuclear power is the fourth largest source of energy. As per report, hydro plants generate more energy than RES which is a discrepancy, as per me. His&wis (talk) 12:59, 17 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
