Move to Lon melane?[edit]

I notice that iNaturalist has this species under Lon melane. It was moved from Poanes melane on 2020-05-17 by https://www.inaturalist.org/taxon_changes/76070 (I don't see any cited reference there, although I'm sure we could ask https://www.inaturalist.org/people/nlblock who moved it if needed). Is there a standard reference we use for deciding which scientific name to use for lepidopterans (analogous to http://powo.science.kew.org/ which Wikipedia generally takes as authoritative for plants unless there is a good reason to do otherwise)? I also don't know what the implication, if any, is for other species in Poanes. Kingdon (talk) 01:09, 7 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

As discussed at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Lepidoptera there isn't particularly an authoritative list to work from. Since there is a redirect from Lon melane I'll consider the matter closed. Kingdon (talk) 05:08, 7 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Kingdon: The genus Lon was created in 2019 by Grishin in Cong et al., and it includes several species that used to be in Poanes, including this one. You can find more info on Wikispecies. So, Lon melane is now the correct name, but since the change is recent, it just hasn't been propagated to many secondary sources yet, or to Wikipedia. --LamBoet (talk) 17:31, 12 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the reference. Kingdon (talk) 16:08, 13 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
