Proposed merger[edit]

I suggest the content of Lotus 20B be merged into Lotus 20. It hardly justifies its own article. DH85868993 01:58, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Agree, it is only a minor version of the lotus 20 and the length of the article hardly justifies its ownKingDoorknob 12:51, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unmerged content[edit]

Former content of Lotus 20B which wasn't merged into this article:

My Lotus 20B was serial number 20Jr.14, I'd supposed the the "Jr>" meant it was for Formula Junior. Never seen one with a twin-cam, mine came with a Mk4 Cosworth, later upgraded to Mk 11. It was Augie Pabst's old Rosebud Racing car..

Ive not found the designation 20B officially used anywhere, the only car referred to as a 20B ive come across had a twin cam. Was it ever used by Lou s as an official designation? KingDoorknob 17:09, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

lotus 20 - minor corrections[edit]

The lotus 20 was produced for the 1961 racing season.

The engine originally supplied was a Ford 105E engine modified by Cosworth Engr. The MAE engine came along much later.

It was not supplied with Alfin type drum brakes but with standard Girling 8" x 11/2" two leading shoe brakes.

The cars were built by Lotus Components, not Team Lotus.

Disc brakes were not allowed through the 1961 season. The cars were going much quicker than anticipated so for 1962 disc were allowed.

I don't recall a 20B version ever being mentioned in England during 61 or 62.

All of these comments are based on cars being used in Great Britain and on the Continent at that time. I can't vouch for export cars.
