Is the 'Multiple Issues' box still needed?[edit]

Greetings one and all.

I was hoping that someone without a connection to Luke Hughes (full disclosure - I am a family friend fo the Hugheses and the Nasmyths) could review the requirement for the 'Multiple Issues' box on this page. My belief is that these issues have either already been addressed or were not valid in the first instance.

Hello Gentleman18. I have taken a good look at this page and can see that it has been cleaned up by some very diligent Wikipedia users. The information that is on there tallies with what I have read in Aidan Walker's book 'Furniture in Architecture', which I can see has been referenced. Sincerely I am a little confused as to why they were added in the first place, but alas I am no Wikipedia guru. You mentioned that you have read Aidan Walker's book. I'm presuming that you are a furniture and architecture aficionado...?

I have restored the tags as there is not yet a consensus for removing them, having been disputed by both Graywalls and myself. The article remains largely sourced to non-independent sources and contains "puffery" (seriously, no one cares if his father is distantly related to a king from 400+ years ago). It has previously been edited by an editor with a conflict of interest (who is now blocked) and Gentleman18 also has a declared conflict, and now we have a brand new unrelated editor making the same kinds of edits without properly addressing the issues? I'm interested to know how LAficionado just happened to come across this article and what relationship you have to the other editors and/or the subject of the article? The timing of these occurrences as well as the closely together account creation time creates an ample combined causes to be suspicious. I get that we normally assume AGF in the absence of evidence. totality of circumstances should be weighed. Graywalls (talk) 07:57, 20 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again Melcous. I wasn't aware that you also had an issue with the validity of the article now it's been largely cleaned up. Personally from what I can see the sources appear to be very credible - especially in comparison to many Wikipedia pages I see. Can you be a little more specific and let me know which sources are non-independent? Being solution-focused, I had taken out one reference that Graywalls has flagged but you appear to have put that back in place. You're basically reimplementing the very things you're raising as issues. With regards to his father descending from King Charles II (referenced in the Daily Telegraph), I found that quite interesting as I'm sure others would too but if it's not appropriate then so be it. It doesn't seem out-of-keeping with how many Wikipedia articles are written. As for what has gone before, I cannot comment on that. My only connection is being aware of Luke Hughes as furniture designer and reading the book 'Furniture in Architecture' last year. After seeing this page, it all tallied with what was in the book so I wasn't sure why the template messages where in place - especially when I saw Graywalls appears to have edited a lot of the article. As for editing this page, I linked to it after seeing a link on the 'Sainsbury Laboratory Cambridge University' page - which I in turn had come across from editing the 'Stirling Prize' page. Reference removed[edit]

I removed the supreme court reference because it doesn't actually mention Hughes, it only confirms that the library opened in 2009. here's the link I'm worried that other unlinked references in this article may be of the same standard and, just like the company article, only there to make up the numbers. - X201 (talk) 15:42, 20 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
