Discrepancy between English and German entry for Maschinengewehr08[edit]

I just read through the german entry for Maschinengewehr 08, which states that Germany was in possesion of 4919 MG08s at the start of WWI, while the english entry lists a numer of "aprox. 12000" MG08s available to german battle units at the start of WWI in August 1918. I have no means of checking this numer, so I leave this here as a comment for someone who has. 84.148.119.73 20:15, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Poor use of English words and extremely long and awkward sentence structures in the last paragraph.[edit]

I have an M.G.08. Serial#49478 D.W.M.Berlin 1918.It has 2 wooden handles that unscrew at top.One looked to be a wire brush and the other looks like a small soft brissle brush.Some of the other numbers and letters on the right side are as follows:9478,DWM with 2 small engravers mark.It also has a slide button on a scale,that is numbered from 0 up to 70.It looks like it could be fired singluary or full.It also has 2 safety's.Cheers ! congotom@zoominternet.net —Preceding unsigned comment added by Congotom (talk • contribs) 03:55, 14 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Size matter[edit]

Shouldn't 7.92 mm (0.31 in) be changed? Wasn't the actual bore diameter was .323, to fire the standard military caliber slug? Trekphiler (talk) 12:52, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Finnish MG08's[edit]

These were all manufactured or re-manufactured to fire the rimmed 7.62x53R round thats similar to the Russian 7,62x54R, with some variation in bullet and case dimensions something like in .223 Remington vs 5.56x45mm NATO, sometimes being unsafe or inaccurate if "cross fired" from a weapon intended for the another. Use by Austro-Hungarian units[edit]
