Article Improvement

[edit]

I hope to seriously improve this article soon with help from others. It doesn't need to be very long, but we should write new sections such as: History, Function, and Redevelopment. Any other suggestions? I'll try to grab a new picture as soon as possible. Best, Weatherman1126 (talk) 04:08, 17 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

New Diamond Market

[edit]

The "History" section should include the market houses which stood there, especially the "New Diamond Market" which occupied all four corners from 1914 to 1961. It straddled the intersection, allowing streetcars and automobiles to pass underneath, and had a roller skating rink on the second floor. Among the many market stalls on street level, was one in which Robert Wholey sold chicken, before he moved to the Strip District and went into the fish business.

Also, Diamond Street was called Forbes Street for many years, before it became Forbes Avenue. I'm not sure of the dates of the name changes. Lyttle-Wight (talk) 15:22, 20 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
