Abuse victim[edit]

Would Max and the other X-5s be categorized as fictional child abuse victims? -- Noneofyourbusiness 01:51, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

re: If military propaganda, torture and brainwashing at a young age, not to mention drowning and whatever other horrors went on in Manticore, I'd say yeah. Plus, during the pulse Max mentioned she was staying with a foster family and a girl called Lucy "Her father was a drunk, he'd smack us around pretty good." -- 1x03 Flushed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.67.237.0 (talk) 01:23, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Their arms were broken to test the regenerative capacity of transgenic bones, and so on. And the less tangible things like the propaganda and brainwashing are also a form of abuse. I'll add Max and Alec to the category. If anyone objects, they can do so here on this talk page. Edit: Correction. I'd add them if the category hadn't been deleted. -- Noneofyourbusiness (talk) 01:08, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Since the issue is not discussed as such in the series, she doesn't belong in such a category! Str1977 (talk) 19:22, 9 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Maxdarkangel.jpgImage-Example.jpg[edit]

Image:Maxdarkangel.jpgImage-Example.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Edits of Dec 6th 2007[edit]

I did a revert of the major changes to the Synopsis section because the changes were a cut and paste of the text on the Dark Angel (TV Series) article, and because the changes removed certain facts. I'm not against major edits, but it needs to be clear why these are taking place, and the edit was accompanied with text implying this was a list of corrections when nothing was obviously corrected. Changes that need reversing or improving included:

- Change of "genetically engineered" to "bio-engineered". The former term is used extensively throughout the series, and appears to be more specific than "bio-engineered". The latter, IIRC, is used occasionally but not often.

- Removal of "brought to term by a human woman" - this is a notable point and is central to at least one episode (the second, from memory, involves Max trying to find information about her surrogate mother)

- Addition of original location of Manticore. This is generally a good addition but can be added to the existing text, and it's not clear from the addition that the location changes (in season two, Manticore has been relocated to a facility "an hour south of Seattle")

- Removal of Foster Family reference. Reworded paragraph doesn't really help. The Foster Family thing could easily be expanded upon, not removed.

- Rewording of subsequent paragraphs - for the most part I'm not seeing what they add, but they're far more wordy than the paragraphs they replace.

I think a lot of the changes are improvements, but (a) we shouldn't be having the same text on both this and the DA main page and (b) it appears to be a rewrite without necessarily carrying more information.

Worth discussing? Perhaps the entire section is in need of a rewrite or restructure? --Squiggleslash (talk) 19:29, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Max Lastname[edit]

From which Source do you got Max Lastname? AFAIK there is only one mention, where Max says that to Logans Uncle. But that is likely to be a lie. Max probably doesn't want to share her true Identity with everyone. ;) And how plausible is it for a girl from Manticore who doesn't even know her parents to know her lastname? --icehawk — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.171.107.171 (talk) 21:02, 10 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've found a source that Max chose the name Guevara for herself and accordingly have added this to the article. Freikorp (talk) 09:10, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Ripley Reference[edit]

The article currently states: "Created by James Cameron and Charles H. Eglee, Max followed a long line of strong female characters created by Cameron, including Sarah Connor and Ellen Ripley."

Wasn't Ripley developed by Ridley Scott for Alien (1979), a full three years before the release of Cameron's Aliens (1982)?

Owing to that assertion, should not the sentence then read:

"Created by James Cameron and Charles H. Eglee, Max followed a long line of strong female characters portrayed in Cameron's body of work; including Sarah Connor and Ellen Ripley."
