The history is:

Memorial Stadium has been the home of the Indiana Football since 1960. Labeled “second to none” for spectator comfort and convenience when it first replaced the original Memorial Stadium (later called 10^th Street Stadium), its original design included expansive east and west stands that seated 48,344. Two major renovations significantly altered and improved the stadium’s look and function. The completion of the North End Zone Student-Athlete Development Center in 2009 enclosed the north end of the stadium, connecting the east and west stands to create a horseshoe layout. The North End Zone project also turned Memorial Stadium into the hub for the IU Athletics Department. A second major renovation came in 2018 with the completion of the IU Excellence Academy. The innovative, student-centered, 67,000-square foot facility enclosed the south end of the stadium to create a bowl effect for spectators as well as a bold new “front door” to the IU Athletics campus. Memorial Stadium is the fifth venue to serve as the home of IU Football. Previous locations include: University Athletic Fields (1887-97), Jordan Field (1898-1923), Indiana Field (1924) and the original Memorial Stadium (1925-59).

The North End Zone Facility is:

A new building with approximately 100,000 gross square feet was added just beyond the north end zone of Memorial Stadium to accommodate the Hoosier Education and Performance Center. This multilevel facility connects the east and west stands and houses the football offices, meeting/video rooms, athletic Administration offices, a state-of-the-art strength/development center, and a Hall of Champions/Recruiting Center. Approximately 33,000 gross square feet of space under the east side of the stadium was renovated to provide space for the Academic Center for Excellence and the Marching Hundred.

The South End Zone Facility is:

The Indiana Athletics Excellence Academy is a state-of-the-art facility that provides a home for the Excellence Academy program, which is one of the most innovative and effective personal development programs in all of intercollegiate athletics. The $48 million, 66,575 square foot facility encloses the south end zone of Memorial Stadium and creates a bold new "front door" to the IU Athletics campus.

The Indiana University Athletics Excellence Academy offers student-athletes comprehensive support with the use of cutting-edge technology; protects their health, safety and wellness; maximizes their athletic potential; helps them develop leadership and life skills; and builds a culture of trust and respect. The academy is a living embodiment of IU's Student-Athlete Bill of Rights—an environment where Indiana Athletics can serve its scholars in mind, body and spirit, while preparing them to be successful in life outside the university.
