Article name?[edit]

Shouldn't the article be titled MicroID? This will requires a move request --Johnjosephbachir

If you'd like to go ahead with that I approve Fstutzman 17:05, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. It doesn't require a move request, because I think this is an uncontroversial move. I'll move it ASAP. Mike Tigas 18:49, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

wiki MicroID support?[edit]

Does anybody know how to embed a microID element in a Wiki talk page? It looks like a <meta/> element, but I don't know how to wikify one of those... Ojcit 00:25, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Add it, prefixed with "microid-", as an HTML class. See the second and third examples on [1]. --82.46.154.93 22:51, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Is Wikipedia going to follow Wikitravel's lead and add it as a user option? Ojcit 05:43, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

original research?[edit]

I just read in the microID blog at http://microid.org/blog/?p=16 that one of its authors started this article. I'm not familiar enough with Wikipedia:No original research to know if there's a real problem. Wikipedia:Conflict of interest may also apply. Ojcit 00:32, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like it's this guy[[2]], co-founder of ClaimID (and not surprisingly, trivially easy to track down). Does that constitute a conflict of interest? Ojcit 00:46, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
This is not "original research", this is an adopted identity standard being developed by a consortium of people. Perhaps it might be helpful to ask questions before you declare this original research and a conflict of interest. Fstutzman 17:22, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

categories[edit]

I didn't get too deep into the differences between Computer Security and Comptuer Network Security. Might as well have it both places, as far as I know. As to whether it's an ID management system, depends on what you mean by ID...some might say you need another system to do the managing. It's nice to remove a template for every ten or so I add around here. Ojcit 06:22, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The point being?[edit]

Initially, the purpose of this scheme defied me completely. Why use hashing and what not? Why not just advertise the plain e-mail address as owner of a given page? Maybe in an effort to conceal identify of the owner until the owner wish to make the claim public? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.89.0.118 (talk) 21:27, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

MicroID Purpose[edit]

What sanctions can be placed on someone who trys to claim a page they do not own? John Zarlino Interent Visionary —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jdzarlino (talkcontribs) 13:29, 19 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
