Yeah, El Cid, that Trivia section was pretty bloated, rivaling the main bit itself even. Having a single item in a bulleted list doesn't seem right, though. The_Irrelevant_One 15:42, 9 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

His listed date of birth is 1943 and his height is described as both 6.5 feet and 6'6 in the Final Fight series. 203.55.230.103 06:12, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

    • How do we know which is the correct one, though? What do these others games have to say about his year of birth/age? Also, I would go with the 6'6 height given the tendency to exaggerate these things. Especially in wrestling! (Slam Masters). ;) 203.55.230.103 06:24, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

And about the weight conversion, 121kg is 267lbs. 1 pound = 0.4536kg ... 356lbs is about 161kg. 203.55.230.103 06:23, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Ah, ok. That is weird. What do other games have to say about his year of birth/age? I'm only familiar with Final Fight 1. 203.55.230.103 06:28, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
    • I'm not sure since I haven't played them, but it seems like Final Fight One (the GBA version) and Streetwise has stats that supercede the ones in FF1. JuJube 06:31, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
      • I have the GBA Final Fight. It's set in 1989 and has his height as 6.5 feet and weight as 297lbs. Though I remember his weight was listed as 267lbs in Final Fight 1 on the SNES.
        • 267lbs actually seems to be the right after converting his metric weight to lbs. I'm getting around 6'6" for his height too...I'll go ahead and add these values to the article since they're the most recent giving and cite the source as Final Fight One.--Kung Fu Man 10:35, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
        • Okay, I just read that closer (sorry, it's 5 AM here, haven't slept). 297 seems very off for his weight when it's 30 lbs more than the metric conversion (btw, the game listed his heigh at 6.5). However since I can't exactly argue with that, I'll just correct it.
        • Does anyone here happen to have the manual for FFOne? Could be a typo on the game's part.--Kung Fu Man 10:45, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
        • Well, since I'm on a roll tonight anyway and trying to save some face, Haggar's stats in FF1 arcade are listed as 6.64ft and 297lbs. I'm *really* guessing the 297 is a typo folks forgot about, but since I can't confirm that, I won't...going to check the japanese version of the game to see if it bothers listing the stats in kg/cm just to be safe. Oh, and something to note, about him originally being born in 1943: all dates in Final Fight 1 were retconned back two years (FF1 actually occurs in 1987 due to the retcon, a fact that isn't reflected in Final Fight One for some reason). As a result, Haggar was born in 1941 in capcom's current canon.
        • Well, in the Japanese version, it's still lbs/ft. Either way, mystery solved and all that.--Kung Fu Man 11:18, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
        • Welll and lastly, after redoing the math and then looking here and rounding to the nearest whole inch, seems 6'8" is indeed right all along. As for the weight, chosen to contact Tiamat about that one and see why his guide says 356 (on an offhand note: Capcom of USA is still screwy about weights...SFA3 lists Zangief as weighing 237lbs, when oddly enough his weight during SFA is supposed to be the same as Haggar's during FF1)--Kung Fu Man 15:26, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Haggar's birth year...

[edit]

All debates over the year in which the game took place set aside, Haggar's official year of birth is 1943 (as stated in all versions/ports of Final Fight 1). I don't think we should tamper with official statements such as that. Btw, Haggar's height and/or weight were slightly augmented from sequel to sequel. His Final Fight 2 bio/profile lists his age as 50 (which coincides with his birth year and the year FF2 was released). Unfortunately, Final Fight 3 doesn't reveal his age. I'm not trying to bully anyone, as I'm not a member of the Capcom task force. I'm simply putting in my two cents. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by KythringRB (talkcontribs) 01:52, 13 February 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Please read the previous discussion. You'll see FF1 and related dates were retconned back two years. Thus, 1941.--Kung Fu Man 01:56, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
This is what it says in the quoted FAQ/reference:

Birthday: 1941 September 3 (40 years old during SNSM1, which was 1 year before elections, which was in 1982 according to FF:SW, retcon of FF1's date or not!)

Not much wiggle room there. :) JuJube 01:59, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

At the time, Tiamat (author of the Plot Guide) wasn't aware that Haggar's birth year was ever specifically stated in a game. He has since been informed that Haggar does in fact have an official birth year and plans to address it in the next plot guide update. KythringRB 16:58, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That contradicts with previous statements in the FAQ itself. If he changes it with the next version I *will* edit it to 1943, but atm it stays 41 as there isn't a change yet. Your heresay < what's in actual FAQ. If you're telling the truth (which I don't doubt you may very well be), we'll see with 4.5. Alright? As for now, cease your changes.--Kung Fu Man 23:23, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It contradicts with previous statements in the FAQ because (like I said) Tiamat learned of Haggar's official birth year after he completed the 4.4 update. Anyway, it's cool with me if you wanna leave it as '41 until then. KythringRB 13:33, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I note that simply entering "Haggar" automatically redirects to this article. I was looking for the Haggar corporation(Haggar slacks, etc.). I have no problem with THIS article, but with the redirect, which should mention both(and I suppose, other relavant "Haggars"(?), and I'm not sure where to post about that. versen 08:26, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notability

Randy Savage or Jesse Ventura

[edit]

The article states:

"Haggar seems to have been loosely modeled after real-life wrestler Randy Savage in the game"

Some claim he's modeled after Jesse Ventura. // Jens Persson (90.231.244.42 (talk) 01:06, 26 July 2008 (UTC))[reply]

it's probably more likely he's based off of Stan Hansen, since the appearance and moveset are almost identical. --173.103.148.70 (talk) 05:58, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think he is based on a movie character from The Wanderers 1979, Emilio played by William Andrews. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.23.35.75 (talk) 18:14, 10 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
