Mike James isn't the first undrafted player to average 20 points per game, what about John Starks

-John Starks never avereged 20 points per game over a season. His biggest scoring season was the 1993-94 season where he avereged 19.0 points in 59 games for the NY Knicks. He was, however, one of the very few (the only?) undrafted players to play in the All-Star game. His stats can be found at http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/s/starkjo01.html Sturlast 00:21, 12 July 2006 (GMT)

That whole Recent Media Scrutinyis pretty pointless, uncited, and innaccurate. While he's been drawing attention with his outspokenness, refusal to play a bench role, and demands for starting money, none of that has been criticized by anyone. Really, Raptors fans are the only ones who have criticized James, after watching him hog the ball for long stretches, refuse to acknowledge his lack of playmaking ability, and demand an unreasonable contract. That whole section seems to be a rant by a Raptors fan. I deleted it. 72.138.81.82 00:12, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The youngest of seven siblings, James's childhood was not without challenges. Crime, drugs, and violence troubled his neighborhood streets. Lack of social and economic opportunity made urban living grueling and difficult for James and his family. Undirected and uninspired, Mike found solace on the courts. More than recreation, basketball became his bloodline and a way to stay out of trouble. James's commitment and daily practice would soon payoff as he was invited to join the Amityville High School basketball squad. Unmatched and unbeatable, he performed extremely well. Despite his courtside accomplishments and extraordinary talent, no one believed Mike would ever play Division I basketball. Upon graduation, James proved every naysayer wrong when he earned a basketball scholarship to Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

that section looks like it was ripped straight from a biography and is comepletely uncited. if anyone would be so kind as to revise it and find the source 67.160.36.175 (talk) 05:08, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Bahamas Quote

[edit]

How can you have an article about Mike James and not include his infamous Bahamas quote? He's got to be more known for that quote than anything he did as a basketball player.

And here's the quote in full, just in case you don't know it.

"The money that I make — the multi-year deal or whatever you guys want to call it — just give me what I deserve. Don’t underpay me. I'm tired of being called an underachiever. I’m tired of being underpaid. And I’ve been underpaid since I’ve been in this game. Now it's time for me to get what I deserve. The money don't motivate me. The money don't motivate me at all. But the thing is, maybe I do want to wake up one morning and say, 'Baby, let's go to the Bahamas. Today.' That costs money. So what if I want to do that? Why shouldn’t I have the ability to do that if for six, seven, eight months I give you my heart on the basketball court?" Mike JamesMike James (basketball, born 1975) – Should this really be the primary topic for "Mike James"? There are 10-15 Mike or Michael James on Wikipedia, and this particular Mike James, while serviceable, is not a leading star in the NBA. Please note: A bot might be needed to change all the links from Mike James to Mike James (basketball, born 1975). Hoops gza (talk) 22:43, 19 December 2013 (UTC) Support move - since there is already another Mike James (Mike James (basketball, born 1990)), and since this Mike James isn't so well known that he is synonymous with the name (like Michael Jackson or Michael Jordan), then I agree it should be moved to that name.
