Notability problems
[edit]An editor deleted the notability tag, noting that the subject has written three books and was written about in several articles. The problems with that is that
- Being an author does not make none inherently notable
- Most of the books appear to be self-published. Trade Show Samurai: The Four Core Arts for Capturing Leads is popped out through self-publishing site Lulu.com (I had a link to the entry here, but WP's spam filter doesn't like Lulu links, for understandable reasons); Slicing Pie: Fund Your Company Without Funds is the only publication listed at Amazon for the publishing company "Lake Shark Ventures"
- The articles, at least the ones listed here, are almost all published by his alma maters, and such school organs are generally not considered sufficient for notability discussions. The Chicago Tribune article just has a single paragraph quoting him; it's an aside in an article that is not about him.
- The comparison was made to soccer players, but sports figures have their own established notability criteria. Moyer would seem to fall under WP:ANYBIO, and the school-specific award would not seem to meet the "well-known and significant" criterion there.
We should have better sources to establish notability if this article is to survive. --Nat Gertler (talk) 18:39, 8 October 2012 (UTC)
