Notability

[edit]

At first sight this article looks impeccably sourced. On closer examination, however, that is not the case. Almost all references are from sources not independent of the journal or its publisher. The few that are independent are just in-passing mentions. It is indexed in some databases, none of them very selective. At this point it is not clear whether this meets WP:NJournals. Third-party sources showing notability are urgently needed. --Randykitty (talk) 17:11, 14 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, Review of reviews... doesn't have that page available online (nor does the Internet Archive seem to have that volume). BUT, I think I can take a look the next time I'm at the library. [https://catalog.hathitrust.org/Record/012272509 The Hathi Trust search suggests it might be useful.
I'm not finding the St. Paul Pioneer Press article -- their own archives don't go back very far (from what I can tell), and it's not on newspapers.com.
The last one is great! I'm looking now. = paul2520 (talk) 12:24, 29 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I added a few references; there seem to be more via a newspapers.com search (subscription required). I can look for the Pioneer Press microfilm. = paul2520 (talk) 12:57, 29 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
These might or might not be good

  • None of the above links constitute an in-depth discussion of the journal. A smattering of citations to articles that appeared in the journal is to be expected, but don't contribute to notability. Even journals with minimal notability have lots of articles that each get cited dozens of times. Nothing like that can be seen here. --Randykitty (talk) 08:10, 30 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • I just went through all the references in this article. Most are not independent from the journal/society. The rest are in-passing mentions. While I appreciate the hard work that has gone into this article, I still don't believe that notability has been established. --Randykitty (talk) 07:39, 26 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
