Pics?

[edit]

Anyone have a good screenshot for this article? - IstvanWolf 06:50, 15 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I did, but it got deleted. Jimblack 16:45, 20 June 2007 (UTC)Jimblack[reply]

Well, that pic was actually really bad, because it's just a screen shot from some Star Wars game, not one of the movies. Here it is. Also, you didn't provide a good fair use rationale and license, just like with all the other pics you uploaded. Do you even notice the countless automated messages on your talk page, stating that the images you uploaded will be deleted without a fair use rationale? I think you should just stop uploading images to Wikipedia.--Atlan (talk) 21:28, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Anakin Skywalker

[edit]

Why is there no note of Anakin Skywalker growing up in Mos Eisley? - - 'twsx'talk'cont' 00:50, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Probably because he grew up in Mos Espa. -- nae'blis 04:07, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed. Where do you get to know this? I watched all movies quite a few times, and was, until now, in believe it was Mos Eisley.. - - 'twsx'talk'cont' 14:17, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It's tough to tell because both cities look alike (they're both on the same planet, same construction techniques, etc), but I am 99.44% sure (without having the movie in front of me) that Qui-Gonn Jinn mentions it when they have to land on Tattooine for repairs. I believe he mentions the city's name when they go into town (right before they meet Watto). See also http://www.starwars.com/databank/location/mosespa/?id=bts, which has some official imprimateur. -- nae'blis 16:30, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Don't forget, too, that the Star Wars Universe comes with a long list of Star Wars books. Much of the lore can be spread around or linked back to those. It's considered official canon according to George Lucas, including those works that are more like technical documents, such as The Star Wars Technical Journal or the cross-section guide Inside the Worlds. Both of those are linked to Amazon (if I've got links down, yet). Now my only hope is, we can pass a vote here to have this Wiki's opening sentence changed to "Non-Fiction." Star War's is a work of Non-fiction, and history, about a long time ago in a Galaxy far, far away... So pleeeease? :)

MG 34

[edit]

Anybody have any linkable proof that the stormtrooper was carrying an actual MG34 with a mocked-up prop barrel added to it? Or was it just a prop like the other Star Wars weapons ala Solo's Mauser Broomhandle lookalike and the Sterlings the other troopers were carrying? On an aside, I always thought it was inspired by the Lewis Gun, not an MG34, oh well.KhProd1 (talk) 05:02, 25 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I would personally not know how to link you to commentaries or interviews where I have heard mention of the use of that mg-34 in the scene, but I have. Over the years those interviews have grown many and tedious, so it would simply take some serious digging. However, going into the realm of the purely speculative, one would imagine that any such reference in prop or scenery to the Axis powers of WWII (and not the allied weaponry), would be fitting for the Imperial side as depicted in Star Wars. It's often considered, I think even officiated, that Emperor Palpatine's rise to power was a direct allegory for Hitler's - doing the same in almost the same manner - as well as loosely upon Augustus Ceasar. And I know it's been forever, but just to any other passerby...

This page needs help

[edit]

Shouldn't "in universe" trivia be separated in some way from real life trivia? Also, cultural influence might be worth noting. I can think of at least one band named after Mos Eisley and I'm sure it's been referenced more than a few times in pop culture. 4.28.129.12 (talk) 08:25, 21 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Merge proposal

[edit]

As an effort to resolve this and the other page's many issues, I propose that Mos Eisley Cantina be merged into this page. Since this isn't Wookieepedia, we don't need a separate article for every bit of in-universe lore. UpdateNerd (talk) 13:38, 26 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Seems sensible. Agree that this is not Wookieepedia! I made a number of improvements to the Cantina article and added a lot of references and content around production, so I would hope that the good stuff gets kept in any merge! Cnbrb (talk) 21:09, 28 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Yes! Please, do it, I would even go as far as saying, that you should, then proceed to merge this whole Mos Eisley article into the one of it's home planet Tatooine.Rosvel92 (talk) 17:36, 8 September 2018 (UTC)rosvel92[reply]

Given that this has not been contested after 1 month, I have merged text and images from Mos Eisley Cantina over into this article. Let me know if anything important got missed. Cnbrb (talk) 18:33, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Merge proposal 2

[edit]

I now propose that Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes be merged into this article. It's a primarily in-universe article that has little to offer that isn't already covered by this article. Cnbrb (talk) 19:02, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Absolutely, it's an in-universe article that should be merged into the more general topic. UpdateNerd (talk) 03:39, 27 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Done. Cnbrb (talk) 13:12, 28 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
