Museum of Biblical Art in Dallas[edit]

How does the Museum of Biblical Art in New York City relate to the Museum of Biblical Art in Dallas, Texas? Both museums appear to be notable. Verbcatcher (talk) 03:03, 23 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Naming the page[edit]

MOBIA has a curator, but no building, no permanent collection. Dallas has a permanent collection, a building, and a curator. Formally, they have the same name: Museum of Biblical Art. I wonder if they should more properly be Museum of Biblical Art (Dallas) and Museum of Biblical Art (New York) with a disambiguation page.E.M.Gregory (talk) 18:03, 24 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. I saw that you made this change a few weeks ago, and that it was reverted by User:Epicgenius with a comment referencing WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. It is not clear to me that this justifies the reversion. Indeed, later in the cited article it says: As discussed above, if an ambiguous term has no primary topic, then that term needs to lead to a disambiguation page. In other words, where no topic is primary, the disambiguation page is placed at the base name (WP:2DABS). This appears to support your proposal. We could invoke the requested moves process to request a controversial move, but it may be better to try to reach a consensus here. Verbcatcher (talk) 01:16, 25 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
We can be more specific by renaming this article Museum of Biblical Art (Manhattan), which is more precise. However, if this article's subject is the primary usage of the term "Museum of Biblical Art", then the article can stay at that title "Museum of Biblical Art". The argument is that the primary usage of the term Museum of Biblical Art is neither the Museum in New York nor the Museum in Dallas. These appear to be separate museums of similar notability. If there is no primary usage then Museum of Biblical Art should lead to a disambiguation page, per WP:2DABS. Media references to Museum of Biblical Art follow the name with in New York, in Manhattan, or in Dallas. Unsurprisingly, MOBIA is heavily covered by New York media, MBA by Dallas and Houston media. There is a flurry of recent articles about MOBIA, triggered by current loan exhibit (sculpture form the Duomo in Florence, and by the fact that it has lost its lease. An MBA flurry in 2011 when MBA unveiled an posh, new building. Ongoing coverage of visiting exhibition at both museums use name Museum of Biblical ArtE.M.Gregory (talk) 18:03, 25 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
