Is "Near North Side" a separate neighbourhood as well as the overall area ? Or should it be removed from the list of neighbourhoods ? -- Beardo 13:10, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This article says that Water Tower Place is anchored by Lord & Taylor. This is no longer true, The space previously occupied by Lord & Taylor is currently vacant and will be replaced by several other retailers

The section where it quotes a Tribune article that 25,000 people have moved into the area to occupy 10,000 new units is not sufficiently documented to be worthy of inclusion. First of all the Tribune has a terrible history of fact-checking for what is essentially a fluff piece, second of all, for downtown a multiple of 1.5 residents per unit is the running average, so 10,000 units would bring in closer to 15,000 new residents. Second of all, some of those units would replace demolished buildings, and may even include apartments that were converted to condos. In other words, it's almost certainly not 10,000 NET new units. Additionally, for population figures one would have to subtract the significant number of public housing residents lost at Cabrini Green as well as the conversion of some small buildings in the Gold Coast to single family homes. Preliminary census numbers for Near North Side indicate about 80,474 residents now. This is over a 10% increase, which may not seem like a lot, but the median and average incomes have skyrocketed at the same time. Emathias (talk) 06:21, 21 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Store list

[edit]

Putting the list of stores in the middle of the entry is a bad idea. Who is going to check this list every six months to determine which of these stores are still there? At the very list they should be moved to the section at the bottom where the consulates and universities are listed although even then they would need to be checked frequently plus a list of new stores would also need to be checked Risssa (talk) 00:17, 20 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
