Islamic block[edit]

has anyone information about his plans to create a 8 state islamic states block?

There was this event with Gaddafi, I can't remember the details, but it affected Erbakan's public image a lot.

Also, as far as I know, he invented something like a Panzer. This is what I was told in my and his high school, at least. I don't have references. deniz 16:11, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Engine[edit]

His Phd was about to develop a type of engine that can consume both diesel fuel and benzene. Many people he worked with describes him as a "genius".

Why is he listed as a Muslim Brotherhood leader?[edit]

In the article's categories section, Erbakan is listed as a leader in the Muslim Brotherhood. I don't know where that information came from, but I don't believe it. If there was information suggesting he'd studied at Azhar (or Egypt at all), I'd think it more likely. On the other hand I don't read Turkish. Someone who does should check this out and either delete the reference or explain.jackbrown (talk) 20:11, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Leopard I[edit]

This story is an old hoax, mostly spread by turkish folks who like to make Germans look too foolish to construct a tank without a foreign engineer.

ECHR supports Turkish constitutional court?[edit]

I thought the claim that the ECHR had endorsed the decision of the Turkish constitutional court to ban this politician seemed odd, because I'm not aware that the ECHR has jurisdiction in Turkey. So I checked the citation, which seemed to be a court report; unfortunately, tumbleweed. Turkey has been a party to the European Convention almost since the inception of the Council of Europe. As part of the recent purges Erdogan has been calling for re-instatement of the Death Penalty and has suspended the European Convention in Turkey. The ECHR doesn't have the power to ban a politician, it is able to interpret the European Convention and to examine if decisions made at a national level were made in accordance with the European Convention.

The Refah Partisi case was unprecedented insofar as it was the first political party banning by a national court that the European Court has approved of. Political Parties are seen as fundamental in European democracy according to the Court so all previous attempts at banning political parties in the Turkish Context were rejected. The Turkish Consititonal Court interprets the 1982 Turkish Constitution which allows for parties to be banned for a broader number of reasons than the European Court allows for. Essentially, the European Court found that aims of the party in relation to Sharia law were seen as fundamentally incompatible with its conception of democratic society, in a way that groups advocating for separatism do not.77 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.44.222.252 (talk) 14:57, 10 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
