Fair use rationale for Image:Northwestern si 1995.jpg[edit]

Image:Northwestern si 1995.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page. If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BetacommandBot 23:41, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Split articles[edit]

I don't think splitting the article is necessary for the 2006 and 2007 teams. I don't see why a 4-8 football team should get its own page. If NU is nationally ranked or invited to a bowl game later in the season, a page for the 2007 team would be reasonable. That hasn't happened yet, though. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bolt Vanderhuge (talkcontribs) 20:17, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough. I thought there was a move on the College Football project to create pages for each season - that any season was notable enough for an article. Hoof Hearted 14:50, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:NorthwesternWildcats.png[edit]

The image Image:NorthwesternWildcats.png is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

Cardiac 'Cats[edit]

Is there a way to make a new page for 'Cardiac Cats? Is it important enough for a stand alone articleSkokiePride (talk) 23:05, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not really sure that every close game since 1996 is important, I believe that the overall concept of the 'Cardiac Cats is important to Northwestern's football renaissance and their ability to field competitive teams and the overall concept deserves to be mentioned in the article. However, I don't think you need to list every single gameSkokiePride (talk) 00:07, 3 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey[edit]

Someone should write a section in rivalries for Iowa — Preceding unsigned comment added by MynameisOlszewski (talkcontribs) 22:34, 12 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Summary of the head coaches' records[edit]

This would be a good section to add. Not necessarily a line for each season, but a summary for each coach's total record with Northwestern. See Wisconsin Badgers football#Coaching history or Minnesota Golden Gophers football#All-time records for ideas. Bruinfan12 (talk) 12:03, 10 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in Northwestern Wildcats football[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Northwestern Wildcats football's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "SI article, 1959":

  • From Ara Parseghian: Furlong, William Barry (September 21, 1959). "'It's A Naturalness. It's Me'". Sports Illustrated: 128–140. Retrieved July 6, 2013.
  • From Miami RedHawks football: William Barry Furlong (September 21, 1959). "'It's A Naturalness. It's Me'". Sports Illustrated: 128–140. Retrieved July 6, 2013.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 19:31, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hazing scandal - listed under 'traditions'[edit]

It's completely correct and good that the recent hazing scandal that resulted in Fitz's firing is included in this article. However, the current approach (cheekily listing a couple of the hazing practices that came to light after students came forward under "traditions") is probably not ideal.

If it's to be included, it should be given a proper write-up. 12.249.24.134 (talk) 19:20, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
