Not all public art is outdoor sculpture

[edit]

Not all public art is outdoor sculpture. Case in point: the marvelous subway tile murals, sculptural installations, photographic and digital art inside the subway stations are public art, but they are not outdoor sculpture. I propose that the lead sentence is changed to reflect this, or the article is renamed "List of outdoor sculpture in NYC". Interested editor's feedback on this is requested. Yes, the phrasing in the lede should change, possibly to something like the following: This is a list of public art in New York City, including statues, memorials, murals, fountains and others. The city's parks have been described as the "greatest outdoor public art museum" in the United States. This would be a more accurate reflection of what the source in the first citation says. ... In fact, I've just gone ahead and made that change. Ham II (talk) 21:19, 1 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Ham II: Excellent suggestion on re-phrasing the lede. Thanks! Netherzone (talk) 21:58, 1 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
