As a foreigner I can't see in this article how and why these groups are described as patriots. Are they self-declared as a Patriot Movement? Or has this descriptor been attributed by media etc? References would be useful on this point.
Their goals and activities seem to be the opposite of patriotism because they are aimed at reducing the choices and freedoms of their fellow countrymen, so what on earth makes the Patriot Movement patriotic? This needs to be explained for the international audience. 114.23.162.174 (talk) 05:59, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Reducing freedoms and choices? Depends on how you're looking at it. This article focuses very heavily on the most extreme part of anything related to the patriot movement, so it may give a slanted view of the topic. Niteshift36 (talk) 12:28, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No thanks Doug. I'm not going to get into that dispute. I've learned that lesson. I can, however, still express an opinion in a discussion. I've expressed it. Disagree if you want. Niteshift36 (talk) 16:27, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm aware it's not a forum. I expressed a view and walked away. You're turning it into a disruption. I don't intent to do a point by point outline of where i feel like i see a less than neutral POV. The fact that i made a simple statement, asking for no changes, and you immediately jumped to demanding sources for my opinion and accusing me of disruption is part of the why for me. If i outline 3 reasons, I'll have 25 people here in 2 hours refuting each word I say. I am very aware of Wikipedia policy requiring a source to put something in an article. I am not aware of a policy that requires me to cite a source for merely expressing an opinion on the talk page. If there is one, please point me at it. Thanks. Did they name themselves as patriots, so they are self-declared? Is there a reference? Or is their behaviour seen as being patriotic by a consensus of the American people? I'm still struggling to see the patriot side of the movement, particularly when their actions are focussed internally on fellow US citizens, who are presumably just as patriotic themselves. 114.23.162.174 (talk) 01:52, 25 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
