Piet Retief, South Africa → eMkhondo – Bold move was reversed for no reason. Name was changed in 2009 and reliable sources regularly use the new name.

- Oppose, as the new name has not become the predominant global name as required by WP:MPN, per the evidence provided on your talk page prior to the bold move being reverted by a third editor; see google news eMkhondo and Piet Retief, which shows no use of eMkhondo in the past month while continued use of Piet Retief. - Weak Oppose. Ngram data for up to 2019. Ngram shows many mentions to Piet Retief (the person and the city), but no mentions of eMkhondo, which is significant as it is claimed that the city's name was changed to eMkhondo in 2009. Google News searches show that eMkhondo and Piet Retief are now about equally common as the name of this city in news stories:
- "Piet Retief" excluding eMkhondo and "Piet Retief Street" and Dingane 274 results
(By excluding Dingane I excluded references to the historical person Piet Retief. There are also about 13 current news stories that mention "Piet Retief Street", so they were excluded.) - eMkhondo excluding "Piet Retief" 289 results
