[edit]Any Picture? Nice to see what a swedish queen looks like compared to an English one! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 61.91.35.79 (talk) 07:51, 10 April 2005 (UTC)
- This article is at the wrong title. This title makes it sound as if she's the ruling monarch. And the article itself gives that impression. Not only does it need a new title, it needs a rewrite. RickK 08:09, Apr 10, 2005 (UTC)
Rewrite/Renaming
[edit]The title of the entry conforms to the entries of other present queens consort, including Paola of Belgium, so if you have a better idea or these entries are incorrect, please advise. I also rewrote the article, with citations for information regarding her family, et cetera. The article as it was written makes very clear that she is not the reigning queen but the wife of the reigning king, so I don't understand your comment regarding this. However, I have tweaked the intro to make this even clearer. The article, as it existed, was hagiographic. It had no information, for instance, about the furor in 2002 over the Nazi connections of the Queen's father, which were revealed by a Swedish newspaper and reported around the world. Although this information in no way reflects on the Queen, it is part of her history and life and therefore should be included in the entry, particularly if properly cited. DO NOT REMOVE this information. To do so defeats one of the salient purposes of Wikipedia: full research, non POV entries. Facts are facts, and facts that make headlines around the world should not be ignored. It would be good to add more information to the career section of the entry; at present, it is merely a recitation of her work history. What, for example, is an "educational host'??? Former surname as "name" infobox
[edit]I agree with User:Marbe166 that we should not have a former surname in the infobox of a living person. Thus I am changing it back to what her whole official name is, i.e. "Silvia". WP is not a genealogy site to the point where we need to go overboard and confuse our readers like that, with inaccurate info about what a living person's name is. --SergeWoodzing (talk) 14:26, 1 June 2018 (UTC)
Titles as per German usage in English article?
[edit]I do not understand how this can be a constructive edit. She was called Miss Sommerlath in English in her noted Olympics career, which can easily be referenced. This is English (not German) Wikipedia. The difference in her title as attained on the day of her marriage is remarkable. Why deprive our readers of that specific knowledge, spelled out? --SergeWoodzing (talk) 19:57, 26 January 2019 (UTC)
Olympics Career
[edit]What olympics career? There isn't a word mentioned about her career prior to becoming Queen. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 165.225.34.255 (talk) 17:06, 14 June 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you! Now there is. A remarkable omission. SergeWoodzing (talk) 09:46, 15 June 2019 (UTC)
Queen's mother
[edit]I made a minor correction to her mother's designation as "Brazilian noble", as there are no Brazilian nobility. One could consider her descendant of a noble family long ago, but calling "noble" is too strong of a statement. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:140:8c00:9a0:9037:9c15:83b0:910b (talk) 02:02, 25 July 2021 (UTC)
