Anyone has the source listing Rebecca as signed to Epic Records?Ohyeahbecca (talk) 23:51, 12 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Nobody's been signed apart from Matt Cardle, and even if they have, they're not notable until they release something. Rebecca does not get an article yet, same as Olly Murs last year. AnemoneProjectors 23:57, 12 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Notable or not notable?[edit]

Again many less-experienced editors fall into the trap of creating the page just a little bit early enough. The trick is this... if you will. Wait for the next UK chart and if you see Ms. Rebecca Ferguson has charted in the UK or Ireland or both, it will be time to recreate page as that would be a good criterion for notability. I'm sure you can wait and 7 days is not such a long time. Personally I do think she deserves a page, but lets take the general concensus. This is what happened to Jedward and beleive it or not a ne Michael Jackson song Hold My Hand (Michael Jackson song) which was being created and deleted and recreated and redeleted until the following week when it charted... So let's wait for a week and buy her single instaed to ensure that she does chart... werldwayd (talk) 00:44, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

They released her single? That's a bit unfair on Matt isn't it? AnemoneProjectors 00:47, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Discography[edit]

Rebecca Ferguson discography is currently being discussed at AfD. If the article is deleted, the content will need to be merged here, so enough with removing it. Till I Go Home (talk) 12:10, 16 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Disambig?[edit]

I see that Rebecca Ferguson now leads to a disambig page. Given that the singer gets some 4000 hits a day, and the actress just 1 or 2 daily, I can't help thinking that it should come here by default. 86.131.18.213 (talk) 14:47, 19 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's better the way it is. Nobody seemed too bothered when Rebecca Ferguson was about the actress. –AnemoneProjectors– 14:25, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Father of her children?[edit]

Do we know about the father(s) of her two children? 86.178.157.135 (talk) 14:22, 7 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Influences[edit]

Hi I am new here and sadly I don't know how to post links yet to outside articles. Still I added that Rebecca was inspired by Amy Winehouse only because there are a lot of sources saying that. Until I can post a link to them here are the ones I will give you. On her twitter page she has frequently mentioned Winehouse as an influence on her saying she inspired her as both a songwriter and a singer. In an interview with a magazine that's called "Rebecca talks life after the X factor using sex to sell records and more" she mentions Amy Winehouse first among her influences more than anyone else. That same article is also where she mentions Sam Cooke and Ottis Redding. In the interview she said "especially Ottis Redding" so its clear that he is a big influence on her. I also got the quote about Amy Winehouse taken from that article. Now I expect these to probably be taken down as they are not sourced. Still I felt I had to add them as I think the article the way it is, is a bit misleading as clearly Winehouse was a big influence on her as she mentions her quite a lot as well as Redding who she said "especially" inspired her. This article however seemingly makes out that only the kings of leon and Aretha Franklin inspired her, so something should be done to show these other artists influence as well. Wish I knew how to source things LOL--Grettdumbido (talk) 06:06, 19 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

– "If there are only two topics to which a given title might refer, and one is the primary topic, then a disambiguation page is not needed — it is sufficient to use a hatnote on the primary topic article" Unreal7 (talk) 19:24, 11 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

checkY Totally agree with the move, given that the singer gets some 1500 hits a day, the actress gets an average 10. Also agree with the above, namely that a disambig page is not needed. Hogyn Lleol ★ (chat) 20:15, 11 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'm concerned about the disparity in hits being due mainly to WP:RECENTISM, but chances are it's safe to make the change. I am generally in favor of avoiding two-item dabs unless it's virtually impossible to determine a primary topic. Powers T 18:58, 13 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
And a Swedish actress who has appeared in four films/TV shows, and whose page has just two sources, clearly falls behind to her namesake in terms of notablity. Unreal7 (talk) 00:57, 15 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
checkY Support completely agree with Unreal7 and Hogyn Lleol notions AdabowtheSecond (talk) 20:12, 15 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the move request was: moved. Although I will say I think it was right decision in 2012. Jenks24 (talk) 06:28, 3 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Rebecca FergusonRebecca Ferguson (singer) – Per the discussion above, Rebecca Ferguson (singer) was moved to Rebecca Ferguson claiming it was the primary topic and Rebecca Ferguson (actress) was secondary. One justification was that the singer gets some 1500 hits a day, the actress gets an average 10. Perhaps this move was correct at the time, or perhaps it was WP:RECENTISM as another user suggested, but at any rate it certainly is not the case now. Actually, it is the opposite, Rebecca Ferguson gets 1000 hits a day, and Rebecca Ferguson (actress) gets 4000. The singer's numbers are probably inflated anyway, since a lot of users, such as myself, reach the actress's page through the singer. If anything, the actress probably has a better claim to being the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC; but that may also be due to WP:RECENTISM (she starred in a blockbuster this year). The correct thing to do at the moment is to move this page back to Rebecca Ferguson (singer) and bring back the disambiguation page, as the singer clearly is not the primary topic. Orwellianist (talk) 04:49, 22 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support - just shows how daft following page view stats for entertainment topics is. Classic case of WP:TWODABS which allows TWODABS, please look at the guideline. In ictu oculi (talk) 14:51, 22 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom. No clear primary topic at this stage. Film Fan 20:11, 23 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom and In ictu. Page hits are not a reliable determinant, as they may be affected by factors such as recentism, redirects, and likely search terms. --Regards, James(talk/contribs) 07:28, 26 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support it was RECENTISM in 2012 and should not have been moved back then, because clearly X-Factor is just RECENTISM unless they are very special. -- 70.51.44.60 (talk) 08:02, 27 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support as above Giskard (talk) 17:13, 27 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support as per nom – as stated, if anything, the actress should be the primary... --IJBall (contribstalk) 00:03, 28 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. It was the right call in 2012, but things change over time. The actress needs to be moved to the base name Rebecca Ferguson as she's clearly the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC of the two at this point.--Cúchullain t/c 17:13, 31 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support - I proposed the move four years ago, but the actress wasn't notable back then. She is now. Unreal7 (talk) 02:29, 1 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
