A bit of full disclosure...

I'm an adjunct professor (teaching 1 course, Human Biology) at GCC. In case anyone's worried about conflicts of interest, doing anything regarding GCC on Wikipedia is most definitely not part of my job description - in fact, the dean of my division/whatever wasn't aware that GCC had a Wikipedia page until I told her! I do not depend on income from GCC to survive, incidentally. Allens (talk) 20:59, 5 November 2011 (UTC)

Photography

I've found a set of CC-licensed photos of GCC at http://www.flickr.com/photos/39965300@N07/sets/72157623426355225/detail/, which I'll be working on downloading, uploading, and inserting (downsized versions of). Allens (talk) 14:08, 6 November 2011 (UTC)

Hi, please upload the original sizes to commons. The images look like they are appropriately licensed. There is a tool to do most of the work for you, called the flickr upload bot. Cheers. --ChrisRuvolo (t) 15:03, 17 November 2011 (UTC)
OK, will do. There seemed to be some preference for recompressing the files before uploading, and I figured that as long as any editing was taking place, a bit more wouldn't be problematic. Allens (talk) 01:11, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
BTW, thank you for the wikimedia commons link - wasn't quite sure how to do it... Allens (talk) 02:08, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
No problem. AFAIK, the only request for low-resolution versions is for fair use uploads on the english wikipedia (such works are not acceptable on commons). --ChrisRuvolo (t) 15:32, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
I wasn't referring to low-resolution versions by "recompressing", but jpegtran - see Wikipedia:Preparing_images_for_upload#JPEG_tips. Allens (talk) 16:08, 18 November 2011 (UTC)

Expansions?

There are several aspects in which expansions on the article are possible:

I'm bringing these up here for a couple of reasons:

  • I have been advised (by Jimbo, as it happens) that it might be best practices for me to more suggest things than do them, to avoid any appearance of conflict of interest.
  • I'm worried the article is getting too long, but am not the best person at judging this.

2002 "tensions"

I can't find anything about these "tensions" in 2002, other than the cited-below material from a possibly-biased obituary:

Some tensions occurred between the faculty and administration in 2002. These were largely resolved through the efforts of the (late) president of the GCC Faculty Association, Dr. Lalaji S. Deshbandhu.
  • Vargas, Claudia (14 July 2010). "Lalaji S. Deshbandhu, 78, Gloucester County College professor". Philadelphia Inquirer. p. B08.
Well, I decided to put it back in in a "tensions" section, along with material on a threatened strike earlier.

GOCE copy edit, May 2012

Just noting things as I come across them:

  • End of 2nd president's paragraph: "There was considerable dismay at GCC over these events, especially with accreditation renewal coming in spring 1987.[16]". FN16 appears not to mention accreditation renewal coming in spring 1987, though it does bear out the dismay. --Stfg (talk) 09:40, 4 May 2012 (UTC)
  • It does, actually - see the second page ("Not only does the college face a search for a new president in the midst of the allegations, it also anticipates an important accreditation evaluation in the spring by the Middle State Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools"). Does the second page of the article need a separate link? There unfortunately doesn't appear to be a single-page version. Allens (talk | contribs) 12:12, 4 May 2012 (UTC)
  • Ah yes! Pages that have tiny little navigators to later pages is one of my favourite windmills when in tilting mood :) I'll make a link to page 2 later. --Stfg (talk) 14:11, 4 May 2012 (UTC)
  • I wish there were a separate article from the list that discussed New Jersey County Colleges - it's a setup that's unique to NJ, at least within the US, as far as I can tell. Allens (talk | contribs) 12:16, 4 May 2012 (UTC)
  • Done. I didn't mean to suggest tinkering with the FL, just that the unique setup by itself might deserve an article of its own. The list doesn't really cover it, does it? --Stfg (talk) 18:30, 4 May 2012 (UTC)
  • To explain the deletions from the first sentence of "Campus": there's little point saying three state highways if only two are identified, and describing two of them as "most notable" is slight editorialising. Better just to state what can be stated categorically. --Stfg (talk) 19:27, 4 May 2012 (UTC)
  • "Buildings and usage" section, paragraph 2: a construction like "the Gloucester County Community Service Corps (Senior Corps)" is not really prose -- more like what one might write in a ledger or suchlike. The problem is that the relationship between the two things is left ambiguous. Senior Corps is an American thing, unknown in the UK and probably elsewhere in the English-speaking world, so I cannot reliably clarify this one. Please would you do so? --Stfg (talk) 20:28, 4 May 2012 (UTC)
  • "Off-campus sites" section: I'm a little puzzled by "most (aside from classes taken at GCC's main campus)". Does it mean that really most of them are at GCC? ;) --Stfg (talk) 10:05, 5 May 2012 (UTC)

Requested move

The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: moved. History that was previously located at the proposed title will be moved to Rowan College of Gloucester County and turned into a redirect, anything that needs to be merged can be done so by looking the history there. Gloucester County CollegeRowan College at Gloucester County – The official name of the academic institution formerly known as Gloucester County College is now "Rowan College at Gloucester County" ([1][2], among more sources). However, a newbie editor who doesn't understand about page moving and edit history preservation created a brand new article, Rowan College at Gloucester County, which should just be the GCC article under a new name. Nothing is different about the school (for Wikipedia's purposes) other than official name change, thus that should be the target article. Jrcla2 (talk) 18:43, 7 July 2014 (UTC)

Support Move/Re-name and merge of appropriate info box and pertinent references to renamed article, and deletion of extraneous new page. Djflem (talk) 21:38, 7 July 2014 (UTC)
