Merger proposal[edit]

I propose pages for all Iranian architecture sabks (Parsian style, Parthian style, Khorasani style, Isfahani style) be merged into Sabkshenasi-e Memari-e Irani. Other two styles (Razi style and Azeri style) were already merged into Iranian architecture because lack independent notability, although adding them to that page is not correct and is presenting one view of Iranian architecture as the sole view. These proposed styles (sabks) are written initially in this book and is not accepted among many Iranian academics, You can read an example of these criticism on this paper (in Persian). The same thing has happened in Persian Wikipedia too. Khenamothara (talk) 16:31, 2 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This is the English Wikipedia, don't expect people being able to read Persian. Also, how do we know the site is reliable? --HistoryofIran (talk) 16:32, 2 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
How did you initially know that these styles are reliable, all the citations provided on those articles are in Persian too.Khenamothara (talk) 16:34, 2 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Interestingly, The citations provided for all the styles is also only this book and one other book by Fallahfar which is a dictionary of words in Persian Architecture and not a a specific history book.Khenamothara (talk) 16:37, 2 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The sources cited don't have to be in English, although it's certainly desirable to have some that are, so that English-speaking readers can find more information, and verify at least some of the claims made by the article. If it doesn't have any, it needs more citations. As for the title, it's not something English-speakers would look for—it should probably be moved to a translation of the title, with the Persian title in the lead, followed by the translation. That would make it easier to find. P Aculeius (talk) 21:15, 3 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your help. I have found an abstract of one of the sources in English: Here.Khenamothara (talk) 19:43, 6 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry this merger proposal doesn’t make sense to me. This is an article about a book. Why would we merge valid articles about architectural styles/periods into an article about a book? Also this book’s claim to notability is that it is ‘the first Iranian book on Iranian architecture history.’ I find that very hard to believe, and it’s not even sourced as a claim in the first place. Therefore rather than proposing to merge other articles to this one, I suggest it would be better to establish more clearly that this claim is true. Mccapra (talk) 18:10, 9 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
