Reread the article. It never said that it did not occur. What it did say is that the details of the event might or might not be historically founded--and, as you pointed out, that there might be some who contest that it happened at all (and 10% is enough to contest, although I think that number is much higher).
Most importantly, it is the manner in which it took place that could be debated on a lack of historical evidence. Are the 10 Plagues historical? That is near to impossible to say with certainty, and it is certainly not the place of Wikipedia to make a judgment one way or the other.
