Crime statistics[edit]

When I visit the Department of Justice site and generate a table using Salinas Police Department to check the years from 1985 to 2008 (2009 is not an option), it gives me the data up to 2007. I am not seeing 2008 and 2009 in the table. Is this an error on my part or is the data for those 2 years unsourced? TransOceanic (talk) 05:41, 5 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Some places have easy to rhyme names, like Salinas. Some places just sound lyrical (Winnemucca, Nevada comes to mind). It is pointless to add mere mentions of the town name in lyrics, as it does nothing to increase the reader's knowledge of the community. If the song lyric actually relates a story about the community, and a secondary source discusses that, adding that information would be appropriate (with appropriate sourcing.) Besides, there are over a half dozen places around the world named Salinas. You have no source stating that the Salinas in the song is Salinas, California. What about the okies???[edit]

The hispanic prevelance has been relatively recent... like they started to transition in in the late 60’s but didnt have much significance till the mid 80’s or so. From the 30’s and 40’s it was midwesterners who replaced the Phillipinos who came after the Japanese... in the mid 60’s as far as i knew, Alisal was mostly “Dust Bowl refugees” and had relatively few hispanics. Larry Hosford, Salinas singer, songwriter[edit]

Larry Hosford, aka Lorenzo, was a nationally know country and western singer and songwriter. 1975 his album Larry Hosford, aka Lorenzo was released by Shelter records, and another album, Cross Words in 1976. Four tracks of these albums made the Billboard Country Charts. ^[1] Hosford is known for his songwriting. The King takes the Queen is one of his most popular songs. (I do not have a citation for this yet) I think he should be on the notable Salinas residents list. His wonderful song "Salinas" is about Okies and Mexicans, full of appreciation for both. If I use these citations/references can I add Larry Hosford back to the notable Salinas people? I would continue to oppose inclusion of this person until an article about him is created. So why don't you follow the advice you've been given repeatedly since you started this and WP:WTAF? The person in question's notability will continue to be uncertain until you do, and if he is truly notable, creating a biography on him will do much more to improve the encyclopedia than wasting every other involved editor's time trying to carve out an WP:IAR exception like you are doing here. Air Quality today, fire a factor, up to date data needed[edit]

The was a claim that Salinas was in the top ten for best air quality, but that was in 2015. It might be different now, and the fires have a big impact. I have added the date to the earlier figure, but we need to get some current data. Toandanel49 (talk) 23:07, 27 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Local politicians[edit]
