Picture

[edit]

This really needs a photo of the Kapt'n, I have no idea how to do it so will someone please do it? -- mando 02:45, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I uploaded one just now. It's one my friend or I took (I don't recall whether it was me or her, since we kept passing the camera back and forth) at the Lawrence KS show on 10/15/05. I'm sure there are some better quality pics out there that meet the necessary licensing requirements, so I won't be offended if someone wants to replace mine with something nicer. I figured at least we can see the Kapt'n in action. Feel free to adjust size, placement, etc. Peace. --buck 14:19, 19 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Pronunciation of last name

[edit]

Does anyone know how to pronounce his last name correctly? Does anyone think this should be included in the article?

Don't quote me, but I think it's "kon-YETZ-koe". It's a bit difficult for an English-speaker to say, so perhaps we should have pronunciation key--though I decline myself because I'm still not sure I've been saying it right. --buck 13:35, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Buck, you are right, for the most part. I'd say the first syllable sounds more like "cone" than "con" though, so I'd write it out as "koan-YETZ-koe". I used to think it was pronounced "koan-eetz-koe" until I heard him say it himself. Here's a Japanese interview with Schwein circa 2001 in which you can hear Sascha pronounce his last name (his segment begins at about 4:22). It's also kinda funny to see him all "gothed" out and looking really young. :)

Wow, I hadn't seen that interview before. Thanks for posting it! --buck 20:04, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notability

[edit]

The article has been tagged for notability issues. Now, of course, we all know Sascha is hugely important on the industrial music scene, but we'll need to collect some sources to prove it. I'll get on this in the next few days, but if someone else wants to help out, that would be great. Torchiest talk/contribs 18:32, 31 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Divorce?

[edit]

Twice the claim has been inserted that Sascha divorced a previous wife prior to marrying Lucia Cifarelli in 2005. Unless a reliable source can be provided to back up this claim, I don't think it belongs, as I believe it could be considered a biography of a living person violation. Torchiest talk/edits 20:30, 22 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It absolutely violates WP:BLP without a reliable source. If it's a "fact" (as the IP editor claims), then it should be documented somewhere. Google searches for "Sascha Konietzko divorce" turned up nothing, and "Sascha Konietzko married" only finds info on he and Lucia. Until it's sourced, it doesn't belong here. MrMoustacheMM (talk) 00:21, 23 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I have never heard Sascha talk about being married on UHB or in any interview. Of course that could be personal information that he wouldn't ever discuss, but without any sources, it shouldn't be posted. In my googling efforts I did find porn star Sasha Grey who got her porn star first name from Sascha Konietzko. Nice. Incredibly Obese Black Man (talk) 03:52, 23 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I haven't been able to find anything supporting this. I swear I remember him mentioning a wife in the pre-Lucia days, and I thought I remembered reading something about a divorce around the time they married; but without a verifiable source, I will refrain from adding it again. My apologies. Does anyone else out there remember anything about this? 70.232.5.178

I found one offhand mention of a "Michelle" on UHB, but I couldn't find anything else at all. Torchiest talk/edits 02:52, 24 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I think this should be re-entered, based on the following sources: There is a "Michelle Konietzko" mentioned in the booklet for Nihil; and there was a link posted on UHB where he mentions a wife (from around the same era; and this was pre-Lucia): http://blogcritics.org/archives/2003/10/05/190907.php70.232.5.178 —Preceding undated comment added 21:40, 4 February 2011 (UTC).[reply]
A name in a CD booklet hardly confirms anything (the last name could simply be coincidence). However, that interview does include a direct quote about a wife. The question is, since the article is from 2003, and Lucia was around by this point, was he referring to her (and they got married earlier than we thought), or was this a previous wife (Michelle or otherwise)? If this is used as a source about a wife, it will have to be used very carefully, so that there is no "maybe" or guesswork involved. MrMoustacheMM (talk) 03:31, 5 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sitar

[edit]

I have no objection to adding additional non-controversial instruments to those that Sascha has played in the past, but I have never heard anything about him playing the sitar. If he has, some proof in the form of a reliable source will be needed. Thanks! Torchiest talk/edits 18:49, 3 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, so according to the liner notes for Blitz, Sascha played the sitar for the song "Never Say Never". I'm not sure if a one time event is really significant enough to say he's a sitarist. Everything else listed is stuff he's done on album after album for decades. Torchiest talkedits 00:19, 6 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Years active

[edit]

I used the blog critics source above to source Sascha's years active to 1976, since that's when it said he was in the first punk band in Hamburg. However, it also says he was in his first band at age 11, so perhaps his years active should be changed to 1972? Not sure if an eleven year old's band counts as a career. Daughter

[edit]

Some possible sources for the daughter:

The side-line is definitely reliable, not 100% sure on the other two, but the photo is pretty definitive. Torchiest talkedits 17:32, 12 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know about the other two (not saying no, but not saying yes either), but adding info on the daughter and citing the Side-Line ref seems reasonable to me. For the record, the only reason I removed that edit in the first place is to avoid unsourced WP:BLP issues; I don't have a problem with adding the info as long as it's cited. Someone please add OK ZTEIN OK to his associated acts.
