1934 World Ice Hockey Championships

[edit]

Does anyone have information on the Saskatoon Quakers that represented Canada at the 1934 World Ice Hockey Championships? There are currenly listed so on the Canada national men's ice hockey team article. Flibirigit (talk) 23:10, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I found one source that we could incorporate into this article. Flibirigit (talk) 23:11, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The source given above ist not yet available; another sources are here and here. But the Saskatoon Quakers described here was founded in 1945. How could they represent Canada in the 1934 championship? -- Jesi (talk) 17:09, 27 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
This particular team would not have. But a previous team by the same name would have. It's an error in linking as I don't think we have an article for the previous incarnation of the Quakers. Or, if a continuous history (albeit interrupted by the war) could be argued, this article would need to be expanded back. Resolute 21:25, 27 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If the claim about 1934 World Ice Hockey Championship is going to be listed on this page, then there needs to be information about that team. The article can't say the franchise represented Canada 11 years before they even officially existed. Raszoo (talk) 04:05, 16 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I will add this onto my growing to do list, of things to research. The best place to look is in the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix and The Leader-Post via newspapers.com and the Wikipedia Library. Flibirigit (talk) 10:05, 16 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I have browsed through the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix and found mentions of the Quakers team playing hockey consistently thoughout the 1930s and 1940s. I have not established a founding date yet, but I think it safe to say that the team was not founded in 1945, rather that it joined a new league in 1945. New VS Old

[edit]

The old franchise is completely different than the new. Just like the Kimberley Dynamiters, the Kimberley Dynamiters (WIHL) and the Kimberley Dynamiters (WKHL). Going to start two different pages. Suggestions? — Preceding unsigned comment added by NuckGhostriderTPB (talkcontribs)
