This seems closely related to bikeshedding (which I note exists and is a redirect to Parkinson's Law of Triviality.) Perhaps they should be linked. 212.13.197.229 (talk) 11:07, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Parkinson's Law of Triviality says that organizations give disproportionate weight to trivial issues. Sayre's Law is a generalization of the foregoing beyond the bounds of particular organizations, stating that in any dispute the intensity of feeling is inversely proportional to the value of the stakes at issue. Any link between the two should respect this relationship. Larvatus (talk) 18:30, 13 October 2008 (UTC)larvatus[reply]

Quote Investigator found a published example of something akin to "Sayre's law" attributed to Charles Frankel, Professor of Philosophy at Columbia University, in February 1969. https://quoteinvestigator.com/2013/08/18/acad-politics/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 156.98.240.2 (talk) 14:17, 16 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
