General and Vice-Chief of the Defence Staff timing[edit]

User:Adamfragz updated the article to General and Vice-Chief of the Defence Staff based off thi GOV.UK profile (yes?). However, this web page has existed since at least 17 May; i.e. when the future promotion was announced. It isn't proof that she has taken up the post or been promoted. There is nothing in the London Gazette about a promotion yet, nor anything published anywhere about the hand over. I would therefore say it is pre-emptive to update this article and associated articles (such as Vice-Chief of the Defence Staff (United Kingdom)), and so these edits need reverting. I cannot find any evidence that Sharon Nesmith has been replaced as Deputy Chief of the General Staff which would suggest that she is still in that role. Dormskirk (talk) 18:02, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
As far as I can see we don't have the definitive announcement that she has been promoted or taken over from Jenkins, which would be in the London Gazette. I see that the GOV.UK page names her as such, but am honestly wary of that as can find no other military source or news article saying that the change/promotion has actually occurred. Have restored this page to previous version for now. Pickersgill-Cunliffe (talk) 18:11, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Its now showing her as "General Dame Sharon Nesmith DCB ADC : Vice Chief of the Defence Staff" on the Ministry of Defence's home page under "Our senior military officials". I've updated the article to reflect such. We're just waiting on the London Gazette for the promotion date, I would say. Gaia Octavia Agrippa Talk 22:05, 25 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

General Sir Roland Walker[edit]

Hi, it has been confirmed that General Walker has taken over as CGS, as if you look at the reference posted on the page (https://www.gov.uk/government/people/roly-walker), it states "He assumed the appointment on 15 June 2024." - therefore meaning he has assumed the position. @Dormskirk.
