Edit Request On June 30, 2012
In the opening paragraph it states, "In 2010, Slash released his eponymous debut solo album." This is the incorrect usage of eponymous, as the word is used to refer to the *person* which the thing is named after. Thus Slash (the person) is the eponym of Slash (the album), and Slash himself is eponymous. I would recommend either removal, or replacement by another descriptive word. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.113.75.213 (talk) 16:06, 30 June 2012 (UTC)
the first paragraph
7/20/2012 -- was this written by a child? Destine to be? Slash is an established rock artist. His credentials and accomplishments warrant his place in history…or is he awesome for his inclusion in “guitar hero” alone? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.195.35.219 (talk) 06:18, 21 July 2012 (UTC)
Photo
Hello people, there is an edit war between this 2 pictures
and wanted to know what you think because we are a community.
I say my, the second photo is of good quality but the expression second me isn't very beautiful and still is in 2009 is therefore the oldest. I leave you the response.--85.237.212.171 (talk) 11:18, 26 October 2012 (UTC)
- First of all, I think both pictures are appropriate for the article. I think the face shot (2009) is better for the infobox at the top. The action photo from 2011 can go elsewhere. And for the edit war, the children should calm down and discuss it here with others before constantly reverting each other. Trackinfo (talk) 14:53, 26 October 2012 (UTC)
- discussion? ok we talk, the photo is from 2009! more recent photos, dear glenn that above a certain age also behaves like a child and no one says anything? is changing and cares of others? replaces the previous pictures even in the voice of tuour, where the other picture is more appropriate that the rest having been made during the tour itself, and at the other photo is ugly, find a newer version of the other and I have no problems.--151.71.188.251 (talk) 07:42, 27 October 2012 (UTC)
No mention of Slash's Obsession Confession?
This is a very good Wiki article about Slash but it never mentions Slash's very successful accoustic song Obsession Confession where he plays a nylon string guitar in a Spanish style. This song was more played in contemporary jazz stations yet did get some mainstream attention as well. Unfortunately I have no metrics as to how well the song sold, but it certainly did well enough to merit attention in this Wiki article and demonstrates Slash's versatility as a guitarist. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.118.162.217 (talk) 16:49, 14 August 2013 (UTC)

Slash (musician) → Slash – The guitarist is clearly the primary topic for his name. I highly doubt people are looking for a mark of punctuation when they search the musician's name online. GeicoHen (talk) 03:50, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
- Strong oppose this is clearly not the primary topic. The punctuation character is much more likely, as are cutting, and several other things on the diambiguation page, such as the slash portion of slash and burn, and slash logging. And, it shows up most as Slashing (ice hockey), most game reports have that penalty. -- 70.24.244.158 (talk) 05:38, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose You'll have to do a much better job of explaining how the musician is "clearly" the primary topic. We're not exactly talking Mozart here are we? Betty Logan (talk) 06:14, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose - "slash + punctuation" 16,600 results in Google Books, wheras the musician Slash gets about 16. In ictu oculi (talk) 06:23, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose: the primary topic is actually the character. -sche (talk) 06:56, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose, per IIO et al. ╠╣uw [talk] 09:52, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose. The punctuation character is the primary encyclopedic meaning for the term "slash". 168.12.253.66 (talk) 13:59, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose - for some people, when you say "slash", you obviously mean slash fiction, not some musician. --Orange Mike | Talk 15:03, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose. Definitely not the primary topic. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:27, 6 September 2013 (UTC)

Dinosaurs?
Slash has been pretty vocal in recent years about his interest in dinosaurs/excavation/etc (mainly due to the increasing influence of the internet and resulting accepted nerdiness, I guess) - shouldn't this be in the article somewhere? One major source is his Nerdist interview (http://www.nerdist.com/2013/10/nerdist-podcast-slash/) in which he talks on the subject for at least 10 minutes pretty in-depth for a 'layperson' (I'm just listening to the episode now and he's still going strong). Shouldn't this be included in the article - maybe his 'personal life' section, or 'other ventures/interests'? I won't edit it in myself as I'm not sure how important it is to his whole life, but it'd certainly be an unexpected, interesting aside for anyone that doesn't know this about Slash! - Andyroo316 (talk) 16:54, 1 December 2013 (UTC)
- A paragraph in "Personal life" covers his environmental efforts and reptile collections. You could add something there. Prayer for the wild at heart (talk) 20:34, 1 December 2013 (UTC)
Ola Hudson was not African American
She was Black British. Before you argue that she moved to America, bear in mind that culture precedes citizenship. For instance, if I moved to Russia from the US and attained citizenship, I'd still be an American living in Russia just as I'd never be African by moving to a country in Africa. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.241.137.214 (talk) 06:45, 7 February 2014 (UTC)
- She was an American who moved to Europe, not the other way around. Prayer for the wild at heart (talk) 09:19, 7 February 2014 (UTC)
Origin.
Is it really Stoke-on-Trent, England? I thought origin for musicians/groups was about where they truly started their career, and in Slash's case that would be the US, from what I can see in the article at least. Any thoughts?--Somchai Sun (talk) 14:26, 20 June 2014 (UTC)
- You're right, it should say L.A. It used to, but apparently it was changed at some point. I'll change it back. Prayer for the wild at heart (talk) 15:10, 20 June 2014 (UTC)
- Ah great, thanks (it also means I didn't miss anything - hooray for me) Somchai Sun (talk) 15:56, 20 June 2014 (UTC)
Edit on 8/15/14
It says on that Slash will be doing a song for the upcoming Paramount/Nickelodeon Movie, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out Of Water. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bencole7 (talk • contribs) 03:25, 16 August 2014 (UTC)
Edit War on the instruments
We should refer to Template:Infobox musical artist#instrument which explicitly states that "Instruments listed in the infobox should be limited to only those that the artist is primarily known for using." Nobody refers to Slash as a bassist or banjo player or talk box person (whatever that is called). Thus, it needs to simply remain "Guitar". User:Mlpearc has been trying to enforce this for quite some time, fighting with an IP. I'm gonna step in and edit it with a note, and hopefully the problem does not persist. — DLManiac (talk) 03:53, 4 March 2015 (UTC)
That's pretty ridiculous considering it says on Axl's page that he plays guitar but he is not known for that. Heck this is wikipedia, people come here to learn information they don't already know, not obvious facts, plus as a solo he plays bass ALOT, especially in World on Fire 2601:8:9800:64C:8D38:762A:D403:748 (talk) 04:01, 7 March 2015 (UTC)
- No, it says vocals, nobody saying the secondary instruments are not valid, it's just not for the infobox, if you have sources and it's encyclopedic you can list any instrument in the body of the article. Mlpearc (open channel) 04:43, 7 March 2015 (UTC)
"Former lead guitarist"
We have multiple drive-by edits each day now where people are removing "former" from the phrase in the lead, suggesting Slash is once again a member of GNR. I think it's fairly clear from the sources that having a reunion show doesn't make him a member of the band again. Even if they do a full reunion tour as has been suggested, I would discuss whether that makes Slash a member of the band once again. I'm fairly certain the other regular editors of this page agree with this position, but I thought it would be useful to start a thread and establish consensus so we can point to it when there are disputes. --Spike Wilbury (talk) 16:29, 7 January 2016 (UTC)
Equipment
I've noticed one very important aspect of the "Equipment" section that's missing, but unfortunately I don't have the information needed to write it. So, does anyone know what brand of top hat Slash uses? Alsadius (talk) 08:38, 26 August 2012 (UTC)
- Dude I know, right? I thought it odd that there was not a single mention of his trademark tophat that I have never seen him without for oh twenty years now. In fact the hat brought me to this article! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.181.115.229 (talk) 05:12, 18 October 2012 (UTC)
- found it the hats are custy made by Baron Hats in Burbank, CA. Baron's makes hats for just about every artist actor and musician in Hollywood. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.181.115.229 (talk) 06:18, 18 October 2012 (UTC)
- It is ridiculous that there is no mention of the hat. Like literally the thing everyone knows him for. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQtM9gSxNfs He claims he stole the first one. 21:02, 5 September 2018 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gripdamage (talk • contribs)
Megan vs Meegan
Recently, on two occasions (then and then), the spelling of Slash's current girlfriend's name has been actively disputed without discussion; for the record, let us have the discussion and put the dispute to rest.
In the body of the article, Hodges's first name is stated only once, making reference to a Daily Mail (which has been discussed at length and is considered potentially unreliable) publication, and is spelled "Meegan". The value of the |partner=
parameter in the article's {{Infobox person}} template currently states "Megan" as the spelling for her first name.
Disruptively edit-arguing over article content without even descriptive/informative edit summaries is an unacceptable method of attempting to establish article content; let us discuss the difference of opinion, reach consensus and let the matter lie. Until consensus has been reached with regard to the content directly related to this discussion, the status quo should be maintained. Fred Gandt · talk · contribs

- Both diffs you've linked were reverts of first (and only) edits by anonymous users. I wasn't exactly disputing any particular spelling as long as it is used consistently throughout the article and is supported by sources. 93.182.179.223 (talk) 13:56, 7 July 2019 (UTC)
- Your reversion, with the default "Undid revision num by user (talk)" edit summary suggested that you regarded the change as unconstructive, and has reverted the article to stating, inconsistently, the name with two different spellings, the alternative to your implied preference being the only one that is referenced. The repeated alteration of the name is demonstrably a dispute. The registration status and edit count of editors is irrelevant to this dispute.

Due to this article being a BLP, requiring urgency regarding facts, but that this discussion being had with little urgency, and that we have one (albeit junk) reference stating the lady's name as "Meegan"; I am editing the infobox to match the reference. Fred Gandt · talk · contribs

Stoke on trent
Slash was not born in Stoke on Trent! 146.199.153.155 (talk) 09:03, 13 February 2022 (UTC)
- Do you want to tell Slash that? Slash's autobiography, chapter 1, paragraph 1, line 1: "I was born on July 23, 1965, in Stoke-On-Trent, England". 82.21.19.72 (talk) 23:18, 20 February 2022 (UTC)
Slash's nationality
this, I was trying to correct the Slash's nationality, there have been two12 or more users reverting several editions of mine as I changed the opening sentence of this page knowing one thing, the nationality gentilicia that they put on the musician is not English as if someone came from England3, even if he has no news references about him, instead of changing the word British to the opening sentence first and sorting the category of the section below and was going to replace him again from English-American to British-American to this same sentence, however, you did not let me, so I intervened here in the discussion page of the article to find out if my edition that I just corrected is correct to what I always do or not. 66.98.17.26 (talk) 00:40, 15 October 2021 (UTC)
- What is the point of this change, I don't understand. If someone was born in England we say they're English. I don't understand why you have to change it to British. This seems to be the prevailing style (see Keith Richards for example). --Spike Wilbury (talk) 02:41, 15 October 2021 (UTC)
- If someone is born in Stoke-On-Trent they are English and British, just like if someone is born in Los Angeles they're Californian and American. Slash's nationality is British. That's the country which issued his passport and the sovereign state of which he is a citizen. It's a simple but undeniable fact. 82.21.19.72 (talk) 23:23, 20 February 2022 (UTC)
