Summary[edit]

You did a great job with the plot!! It didn't need much editing. I made it a bit simpler. But its not going to get much smaller. The whole point is to give a plot to people who may not want to read the book, and will want to know the basic plot. The rules of wiki are that if you include a plot it must go from start to finish. This is not an advertising to get people interested in reading the book. Here's a suggestion. The section for plot is riddled with unimportant minutiae. It begins, "It has been a slow couple of weeks..." I don't want to know the entire book. It's ridiculous. Just tell me the general plot in a few sentences. If I want to read the book, I'll read the book. A plot summary should be a summary, not an exhaustive blow-by-blow account of what takes place from page 1. As it is, if I read that plot section, I may not even want to read the book because I already know too much of what is going to happen. --Uroshnor (talk) 00:39, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In fact the plots that are a few sentenses only are often against wiki rules. Because they just give you the begining, and let you wonder how it got resolved. That is totally against wiki rules. Its not there to get people to pick up the book.

My current semi-long-term content project is to work on rewriting the plot summaries for most / all of the Dresden Files novels. I'm currently working (slowly) on Ghost Story but this one is probably next up on my list... it's been too long since I read this to know whether I agree with you at this point, though. I'm working on this now and having boiled it down, the plot of this book is actually very, very simple. This being the book which is setting the framework for an entire series, a significant potion of it is there only to introduce the universe and its characters - all necessary, but none relevant to the plot of this story. I will agree that the summary could use a more concrete ending, and there are some factual errors in there, so I will at the very least be doing some major editing to this if not just rewriting it completely. However, in terms of sheer length, what's there is about right for this book, if not even a little long. See WP:MOS-NOVELS#Plot - for a plot this simple, I'll be shooting for three short paragraphs or two longer ones, depending on how it comes out. --ElHef (Meep?) 00:38, 22 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
