Please see WP:SONGCOVER before adding "so-and-so covered this song" to the article. As the article says, there have been over 25,000 covers of this song, and they should not be mentioned here unless the particular version passes WP:SONGCOVER. Toddst1 (talk) 00:39, 2 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Many versions not listed on this article would fit the requirements of WP:SONGCOVER.
Specifically I would note:
Big Brother and the Holding Company
the Zombies
Sublime's Doin' Time
Lana Del Rey's Summertime
Joni Mitchell's cover during the 1/2023 ceremony on the occasion of her receiving the Gershwin Prize
All of these have a wiki article that can be referenced. Eth4n (talk) 16:48, 4 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sublime’s Doin Time cover is iconic and defined the music era in the transition from grunge to post-grunge alternative in the 90s. I’d argue its inclusion here is a must and was shocked it wasn’t. Lana Del Rey’s was specifically a cover of Sublime’s interpretation, making the Sublime version more notable but also it was notable on its own. Forceten (talk) 23:05, 25 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Difficult to find

[edit]

Some covers listed would help find this easier. It took a very long time to find this song, several years in fact. If a few more versions, possibly alternative lyrics were added, I wouldn't have thought it was first performed by Ella Fitzgerald sometime before 1968. (Personally, I first heard it sung by Topanga on Boy Meets World, and couldn't find any references to it because of the very specific spelling choices of it's lyricist.) 108.224.106.197 (talk) 09:24, 30 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@108.224.106.197: Your point is not at all clear. "Some covers" are listed. They pass WP:SONGCOVER. What are you trying to say other than you don't know much about music and had trouble finding this article? Toddst1 (talk) 03:23, 11 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
