Mediterranean port?

[edit]

Hi folks,

As far as I'm concerned, I'd say Tanger lies on the Atlantic Ocean and not on the Mediterranean. Therefore the first sentence of the article should be revised. Since yet there is no standardized means whether to determine which port is bigger than the other, Marseille and Algiers compete for the title -Biggest Port of the Mediterranean-

Hi,

At least take the time to check Tangier on a map before you make a statement like that.

"Med" ?

[edit]

Is "med" short for Mediterranean? 41.142.32.206 (talk) 07:41, 4 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Tanger-MedTanger Med – The page is currently a mess of variations on the name – Tanger-Med, Tangier Med, and Tanger Med. I believe Tanger Med (without the hyphen) is the official name, as shown on the port's website, the port's other website, and this sign at the port. • Support Seems like a recent rebranding. When I first wrote about its construction back in 2012 for the Ksar es-Seghir page, it was "Tanger-Med". As it seems to have been all throughout construction, and continued to be for most reports and cargo itineraries down to 2020 or thereabouts. Indeed, its own official webpage still has "Tanger-Med" in its page source heading. Although the hyphenated name still appears frequently, I guess its current official name omits the hyphen.
