Untitled[edit]

Tavi Gevinson was born on April 21, 1996. She should be in the 1996 births category, not 1997 births. See one of her first blog posting for my reference- http://www.thestylerookie.com/2008/04/people-i-love-fire-alarms-and-tagging.html . In a post dated April 16th, 2008 she states that her 12th birthday is five days away. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Runnymede13 (talkcontribs) 23:29, 14 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Notability? Verifiability?[edit]

I must admit that I have difficulties understanding the person's notability. Do we really have to have an article for every blogger mentioned somewhere by the media? And I have doubts regarding verifiability. Where are exact sources regarding age and birthplace, or even her name? Yesterday we had an article about Tavi Williams, now it's Tavi Gevinson. Googling doesn't really help either. If there won't be any improvement in the next 30 days, I'm going to go to WP:AFD. --Catgut (talk) 09:12, 22 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

British newspaper article 91.84.51.91 (talk) 14:17, 23 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Do we really have to have an article for every blogger mentioned somewhere by the media? We certainly don't. Forget the Daily Wail; here's a fairly substantial article in a real newspaper. -- Hoary (talk) 23:44, 23 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well, thank you! I'd say according to our rules one could assume a basic level of notability provided by media coverage. Still, the verifiability seems a little weak, at least to me. --Catgut (talk) 18:12, 24 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I don't agree with this non-person having a wikipedia article just because of a few news stories - however I think that a little time should be given to see how notable she proves to be, if as I suspect she fades away to nothing within six months, then the article should be removed. That is me being generous, my true feeling is that an article is not deserved until notability is proven. 119.173.81.176 (talk) 08:54, 25 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I can't really be bothered, I am more concerned about inaccuracies on wikipedia, than an article that is accurate but a waste of server space. I assume there are a million and one articles about nobodies, such as this one. 119.173.81.176 (talk) 11:54, 25 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think shes notable enough to have a Wikipedia article. She hasn't really accomplish anything except being popular.Pwordisony (talk) 22:28, 25 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This may come as some surprise, but you are free to launch an appeal to delete whenever you wish. -- Hoary (talk) 22:53, 25 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have just added three additional sources from Women's Wear Daily, New York Magazine's The Cut and Teen Vogue. You guys need to quit picking on this cute little girl. Just cuz she's not the bee's knees in your circles doesn't mean she isn't notable. The references speak for themselves!!! Vintageandhaute (talk) 19:50, 22 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The New York Times published on article on July 27th, 2012 titled "Oracle of Girl World" which supports a claim to notability within the United States fashion world. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zzzzwiki1234 (talkcontribs) 17:11, 29 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

LOL Tavi Gevinson has a film career now, has appeared on The Late Show with Jimmy Fallon, The Colbert Report, etc. Bitter curmudgeons, you lose. Air (talk) 19:41, 12 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I closed this debate as speedy keep. Bearian (talk) 20:38, 23 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Copyedit[edit]

  • I've edited the page to remove two (for me) poor sentences: "Initially, her parents did not completely know what Tavi was doing" and "Most recently, Gevinson was named a "Vogueista" by Vogue Italia with friend, Kristin Prim." And I've moved paragraphs w.r.t. section headings. You might want to check I've not mangled any information. --Tagishsimon (talk) 00:07, 26 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Rookie (magazine) article[edit]

I think that Rookie magazine merits its own article, and I've drafted one here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Rookie_%28magazine%29. It's just waiting on review and approval. If you're a registered Wikipedia user who could approve the article, please take a look at see what you think. Thank you! 75.85.5.87 (talk) 02:45, 22 May 2012 (UTC)Frank[reply]

Here it is -> Rookie (magazine) - it is well written, it can stay, however I suggest some minor edits. I will work on it soon. --★ Pikks ★ MsG 08:41, 22 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Criteria for inclusion in 'See also' section[edit]

What criteria should apply to the "See also" section? Does the Tavi Gevinson (fashion blogger) article apply the criteria properly? See background of discussion on User WikiMrs talk page 08:27, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. The criteria are the WP:ALSO page. All the criteria of the current See Also section are met. Reading the discussion in your talk page I noticed you think the See Also as per now is not relevant. However according to WP:ALSO "The links in the "See also" section do not have to be directly related to the topic of the article, because one purpose of the "See also" links is to enable readers to explore topics that are only peripherally relevant". If you would like to add a bullet to the section, please feel free to do so.
I see you also asked for a WP:3O and you have been given a similar reply. --89.230.13.39 (talk) 10:06, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Threaded Discussion[edit]

  • {from RFC) the addition of other fashion bloggers that appear to have no connection with Gevinson doesnt appear to add much to the article, the more normal route is for similar people to be included in relevant categories and not listed within the article. A navigation template is also available, I have taken the liberty to add Template:Fashion bloggers and remove the names from the see also. MilborneOne (talk) 19:10, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Good choice. --★ Pikks ★ MsG 19:52, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request on 21 November 2012[edit]

Tavi served as a guest judge on the second season of Project Runway All Stars: [1]. Semirhage527 (talk) 20:02, 21 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

See WP:TWITTER concerning the use of Twitter as a reliable source. I will leave this open for other editors to comment. HueSatLum ? 02:03, 22 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. - the information is probably correct, but we do need a better source. It's mentioned in Project Runway: All Stars (season 2), but that article is unsourced, so doesn't help. Let's wait for a better source, per WP:DEADLINE. College[edit]

It says on the article Tavi Gevinson took a gap year before attending New York University, yet she has stated that she ended up not going to NYU or any college: https://twitter.com/tavitulle/status/775393557490307072 Beable23 (talk) 12:34, 18 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Done. @Beable23: I just removed the statement altogether (as well as the item in the infobox) because it wasn't supported by the source. In the future, please state exactly what changes you want to make when using an edit request template. Thanks, –Deacon Vorbis (carbon • videos) 15:28, 18 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Politics[edit]

Trivial criticisms of celebrities might get Gevinson some press, but it's not encyclopedic, violating WP:BLP and WP:POV as well. --Hipal/Ronz (talk) 15:18, 23 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Since this is related to the disputed at Karlie Kloss, I've brought it up at the current BLPN discussion: Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons/Noticeboard#Karlie_Kloss_and_Tavi_Gevinson. --Hipal/Ronz (talk) 17:01, 23 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Source Change[edit]

The line about Gevinson appearing on the Nightly Show to discuss Penn's Chapo piece currently only uses, as a reference, Penn's Chapo piece. Here's a secondary source that could support it: [1] (Sorry—I would format it but I somehow went over the paywall number of pieces by accidentally closing the tab with the piece and then trying to re-open it.)--2603:7000:3E40:83D7:ADB1:8DCE:6E4F:8303 (talk) 06:27, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
