Change "Windows" to "PC" in references to versions of TF2. 2601:600:A480:F7A0:CC9C:8EC5:EEE0:C10C (talk) 13:14, 11 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not done since "Windows" and "PC" are not interchangable. IceWelder [] 14:32, 11 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Team Fortress 2 no longer supporting MacOS, period

[edit]

I found out that Steam has officially delisted Team Fortress 2 from their store yesterday for MacOS.

I tried putting it into the infobox but I could not make it work.

Can someone else add it for me please?

https://steamdb.info/changelist/23945028/

Thanks!

@Urbanracer34 Infobox video game does not have a way to denote discontinuation of a platform. SteamDB is not a reliable source for Wikipedia, so we'd need to have a secondary reliable source (or a news post from Valve) in order to add it to the prose of the article. -- ferret (talk) 17:00, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Ferret Would the page on Steam's storefront be an OK source? https://store.steampowered.com/app/440/Team_Fortress_2/ Urbanracer34 (talk) 17:04, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's a really weird case where nothing says "Mac doesn't work anymore". This has an odd intersection with WP:OR. "Mac isn't listed after date" -> "Mac is discontinued". To verify this, we would need an web archive of 6/11 (6/12?) and the day after showing that Mac was removed. Then we could do prose like "On June 12, 2024, Mac was removed from the supported requirements." or similar. We can't do much commentary this way, but just the basic straight fact. -- ferret (talk) 17:13, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think I will pass working on this. It's not really that important. Just wanted the info out there. Urbanracer34 (talk) 17:15, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So lets wait until a reliable source covers it AlexBobCharles (talk) 18:05, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This just came out a couple of days ago: [1] Urbanracer34 (talk) 23:55, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Ferret I know this was a while ago but something new has come up from my last reply: https://www.imore.com/gaming/valve-just-dropped-mac-support-for-its-biggest-titles-team-fortress-2-portal-2-and-half-life-all-get-the-axe Urbanracer34 (talk) 15:47, 24 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Urbanracer34 Seems to be a widely used source, though I've not encountered it before myself since I don't follow Mac. Should suffice. -- ferret (talk) 15:51, 24 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Huh? The article claims that every Valve game under the sun dropped Mac support, but clearly this is not case. Checked both Portals just now and their Mac versions are still available. IceWelder [] 15:53, 24 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't look into it carefully enough. I apologize. I guess we should leave it as is. Urbanracer34 (talk) 15:58, 24 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@IceWelder The store page for both Portal and Portal 2 no longer lists Mac. Even if Valve is still letting Mac users download the last support version, the store is definitely no longer listing it. -- ferret (talk) 15:59, 24 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
True, but there is a difference between not showing a platform logo on the store page and outright deleting the game files for that platform, as is the case with this one. It's weird that the source doesn't make this distinction. I also noticed that (for example) Left 4 Dead, which also does not show macOS on the store page, still gets macOS updates; latest one less that two weeks ago ([2]). iMore only uses SteamDB for its sourcing; on June 12, macOS was removed from several OS lists, but the same history shows they were restored on June 14. I personally think that this is a bug on Valve's side. IceWelder [] 16:10, 24 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I want to add an image to this article. Kingofthewetcats (talk) 11:04, 23 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question: Which image would you like to add? Could you provide a link to it on Commons? '''[[User:CanonNi]]''' (talkcontribs) 12:38, 23 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for replying so late, I forgot someone responded to this. here's the image i want to add: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Team_Fortress_2_Engineer_Gameplay.png Kingofthewetcats (talk) 18:48, 19 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Not done: That's a copyright violation on Commons and will be deleted. -- ferret (talk) 19:26, 19 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Bestseller or commercial success?

[edit]

Is this game supposed to be a bestseller and/or commercial success or neither? Why? Thomas Wiencek (talk) 03:22, 28 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Engineer having a robotic arm

[edit]

I know this will probably be considered very minor, but to my knowledge, the Engineer has a robotic arm that his right glove covers. Should that be added in, and if so, how? Lacon432 (talk) 23:47, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I've not heard of this before, and even if it was true, it'd probably be such a minor in-universe detail that it would not be worth including anyhow. IceWelder [] 09:27, 18 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Voice actor of Saxton Hale in VSH

[edit]

From what I know the voice actor for Saxton Hale in VSH is not the official voice actor, as the mode was community made, (I couldn't find a good source other than steam forums mentioning this) 69.171.222.49 (talk) 15:25, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
