TED SERIOS "addendum"

[edit]

Posted here will be a special addition to the artical that I found dangling... while I do not disagree with these statements personally, whoever edited them into the article did so in an inappropriate manner and furthermore, it lacks sources

.............................. To whom it may concern, 1. Ted Serious did not, as stated above, only produce thoughtographs with his "gizmo". Many times the "gizmo" was made by the researchers themselves at the time of the experiment and sealed at both ends, and was recovered and checked at the begining and end of each session. 2. He was able to do this at a distance. 3. He was able to do this to a camera and film in another room. 4. There was at least one instance of him projecting an image to a live television camera feed. 68.186.221.239 15:07, 4 August 2006 (UTC)R.M.Hardin ..............................

... I'll just leave it here until someone feels like integrating it.

clean up needed

[edit]

This page seems to have a large body of text which has been taken directly from other websites. In particular this site http://www.niler.com/estitle.html.

Source for the Randi Claim

[edit]

Is there a source for the claim that Randi has duplicated Serios' 'thoughtographs?' I know he claims to be capable of doing it, but has he actually succeeded in replicating it under the same conditions as Serios (in a monkey suit, locked in a Faraday cage, etc.)?لقمانLuqman 15:44, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

d. ca. 1990?

[edit]

What is the source for that claim?

In the Social Security Death Index there are 11 people with the last name of "Serios", one of whom is a Ted in Illinois:

TED SERIOS 27 Nov 1921 30 Dec 2006 (V) 62301 (Quincy, Adams, IL) 62351 (Mendon, Adams, IL) 39-18-7559 Illinois

Maybe somebody can find an obituary for this death a month and a half ago. Gene Nygaard 15:05, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Persi Diaconis?

[edit]

This section needs some better citations. It makes it sound like you can indeed make a fixed focus camera focus on a marble close to the lens in a cardboard tube, when in fact you cannot. At best you would have a picture of a marble. And how did Serios get a tiny photograph on a marble? Where's the facts? Does anyone else think this is nonsense? It needs to come out of the article. Removal of POV statement

[edit]

I removed the assertion that Dr. Eisenbud's support of Serios was "uncritical". Whether or not his beliefs regarding Serios were correct or not are really immaterial. I'm assuming it is possible to set up a well-designed experiment and to also misinterpret the results ..? If a source can be provided that satisfactorily documents Eisenbud's experimental sloppiness then I shall withdraw my objection. As for now it should be removed, as I don't believe blithe, unsupported negative comments really help anyone. Deyyaz [ Talk | Contribs ] 01:29, 10 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
